9mm and tires

Also it will be MUCH easier to go through the sidewall than all the belts and tread.

I wouldn't want to be that close because under pressure it will blow out violently.

Yes. I've shot a steel belted truck tire with soft lead hollowpoints, will pass through. Did recover some on inside of the tire where it bounced off inner wall on far side. Fill with sand and it'll stop.

A 30-30 round 150 grain will go thru a fender-a rim-and a tire-how do I know you ask :squint:

You weren't demonstrating your new rifle like the u-tube guys were you? LOL

In my opinion, yes, the bullet will penetrate the sidewall of a common personal vehicle while it's moving. I'm no expert, but it is a question of physics. If the bullet is traveling at 1,200 feet per second at 25 yards away from the muzzle, then it is traveling at over 800 miles per hour. With respect to the velocity of the bullet, a tire rotating at 60 miles per hour is practically still. I think the spinning tire would be hard-pressed to deflect the bullet. I also think a round nose FMJ 124gr NATO 9mm will penetrate the thickest knob of any off-road tire tread at close range.

Maybe a mechanical engineer will chime in.

I'm sure that most of us, yes I'm included, have done, or been around something really incredibly questionable of sanity at one time.

I had to explain, and I didn't do it well; how may Dad's brand new 1972 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ came home with a fist-sized dent in the driver's side rear quarter one night.

Really, I didn't do it. Had no clue. But with my, shall we say "interest" in a certain local tavern that had the most awesome beer boiled hot dogs. I was a goner.

I tended to go there a lot with buddies and get lunch...only...really.
