What's your go-to traffic app? (Android)

So I've been using Weatherbug for years as a weather app with a nicely integrated traffic map. I checked it a few times every morning as I'm getting ready to see the traffic patterns develop and adjust my route accordingly. Good old I24. This week they dropped the traffic function. :/

What do you guys use? I've looked at a couple in the app store but would like to hear from some local people.

Thanks!

Google maps supposedly has traffic patterns and congestion integrated, but I've never given it a through testing.  For what it's worth, they claim "Live traffic conditions, incident reports, and automatic rerouting to find the best route."  Might be worth running for a week to see.

One alternative for highways is to use Twitter and follow the feeds set up for each of the highways in Tennessee.  They put out info on when/where accidents happen and an estimated clear time (frequently revised upward, of course).  For example, I-24's page would be here; https://twitter.com/TNinterstate24.  It's easier to just download Twitter, create an account, and "follow" each of the roads.  I do it for 24, 40, 65, 440, and check them before I head out.

I ran into some heavy traffic at 4:15pm yesterday on I-65N from Briley to downtown. It wasn't mentioned on Twitter. I saw an accident that slowed traffic on Briley between Old County Hospital and Hwy 12. It wasn't mentioned either.

Thanks for the opinions fellas. I'm just not ready to give in to twitter yet.

I was a heavy wazer a few years ago but dumped it for some reason or another... guess I'm going back to being a baby wazer this weekend. :/ Edited by musicman

Breaking news, naked women, fantasy football updates, occasional gun porn...what's not to like?

I just use Google (part of Now) for the most part. I have used Waze but didn't install on my new phone.

Google has live traffic and alerts for wrecks. My only problem with it is you cannot (yet) set an alert in case traffic is worse than normal. I would love to be able to set a schedule of days/times I travel, as I don't go into the office every day.

Wow I thought I was the only person left on the earth that refuses to get on Twitter.

I'm with y'all. I gave up FB a few years ago (about the time I found TGO) and I don't miss it a bit. So, I can't see any reason to start being a twit.

I don't do Twitter, or Facebook, or Instagram or any of those other silly social apps. Never have and doubt I ever will.

I am rather unsociable.

I always wondered how these apps knew the traffic patterns of everywhere without having sensors on all the roads, or paying for satellite surveillance. Then I realized that we are all providing the sensors from our phones. That location status in your phone feeds your location and your rate of travel back up to Google, or whoever, and then they use that data to determine if the people on any given road are travelling slower than the posted speed.  :tinfoil:

All tracking of cellphones via GPS is through permissions granted by the user. When GPS Is activated, there Is an Icon Indicationg that It's activated. At least for Android.

I just downloaded Waze today, really cool app and I was surprised how many people are using it. Seems to work very well.
