It looks like there is a thread protector on it, but I don't see anything in the description about threading.

They are threaded. I've handled that very one you linked and they are a very small, light package. I have one coming in 223 myself. There is another thread on here somewhere about them

I have yet to dabble in 300BO, but can someone smarter tell me if twist rate mattes for 300BO? And if so, I wonder what the twist is on this barrel. If I got one later this year, it would be strictly for work with a can and subsonics, so I'd want to have the optimal setup for that type of slow, heavy load...

Great program. It's the one Oehler sells. I'm betting they plugged the right math in. I have used it for starting elevation at 600 yards, and it was on the click.

I need to build an AR upper in 300 blk but haven't put the funds to the side yet. This would be a perfect option for the farm...

I sense an unplanned purchase in my very near future...

I'm not going to have time to develop any loads until late fall. Anyone have a suggestion for some decent factory subsonic loads?

Before shooting subsonic ammunition through a silencer I would verify twist rates. Not saying the twist is wrong but I cannot find mention of the twist rate either.

The Ruger Ranch in 300 has a 1:7 twist.

So, is 1:7 adequate? Would something else be better for a strictly subsonic suppressed setup?

I prefer this bolt action to a single shot, but I seem to recall seeing handi-rifles being sold for a pittance and with great accuracy reports. Maybe that would make a better platform?

7 twist will work with any bullet weight commercially available.

Personally I would rather have a bolt gun than a single shot even though I shoot my single shots more.

The ONLY issue I have had is some cast bullets, with flat noses, would not chamber. But jacketed bullets ran great.

Just FYI for anyone who was on the fence and hasn't ordered one yet, CDNN has a few in stock.  I just ordered one for $394 shipped.  That's about as good as you are going to find it when you can find it.  They have been out of stock and hard to get most of the time.  Make sure you are getting model 6968 which is the regular stock unless you do want the shorter stock (6970) for some reason.  You could find the shorter stock, but not the regular recently.

The single shots are shorter and lighter making it easier on me when I am working on load development or just testing stuff out. Bolt guns tend to be more accurate than single shots but ringing steel is all I ever do any more.

I have this rifle in the compact version, I love it.  I have shot 125gr supers through it and am waiting on my suppresors to get approved before I start work on subs.  I chose the compact, so, my kids can shoot it as a youth rifle,  yet it still fits me and is super easy to cary and handle.
