The time I have on that Saturday will be somewhat limited (family dinner) but I'll be more than happy to pitch in for as long as I can

I plan on staying until 4:00 or everybody is finished. I am sure there will be a need for one on one. And the practice time is open until 4:00. Any body willing to help, come when you can and leave when you need. :hat:

I was looking forward to this and had people coming but I will be out of town.

Everyone who is on the fence should come out. Super friendly and Jcoop is a great shooter. Worth the price of admission.

Mx your too kind, yes come and play and see what it's all about! Or just come watch, but you still better bring gear, you'll want to shoot after you see the action.

What's the format? Watch someone run a course or does someone walk you through it as you try it yourself?

Well in most cases it's forbidden to "coach" but on that weekend it's perfectly ok, being it's a intro match. It being your first time, watch and learn, then when you think your ready just ask someone to run you, and befor the buzzer goes off just ask for some help. It's ok to screw up, as long as your safe, because you can just run it again! And again. So man up and come on out.

You can get as much or as little coaching as needed. The start time is 9:00 usually, however for this match, come and go as needed. I can take new shooters until around 1:00. I will hold a mass safety meeting around 8:30 - 9:00AM. If you arrive late, you will get the one on one. Remember safety is first, no show and tell at bays. Their will be tables set up next to the woods for that. Each bay will be stand alone, run by the range officers in that bay. You will be able to move about. The classifier will be set in bay five if anybody needs it for score or practice.

Also no memberships are required for this match, open to all safe shooters. Unsafe shooters will be ask to leave and I will keep your range fee. What is safe you ask?  All guns in a holster or bag when not shooting on the line under the direction of a range officer. No gun handling outside the bays. Safe areas will be set up to check your firearm if needed. No ammo in the safe area. No show and tell in the open areas around the bays. First infraction you will be coached on protocol, second you may be ask to leave. Long guns carried muzzle up or down. Cased is better or on a range cart.

For those of us who haven't done this in a while, or ever... What sort of equipment is needed? Gun type, cal., holster, amount of ammo?

For the IDPA class, A strong side holster held in place with a good belt, 3 magazines, two magazine holders. Revolver shooters can have 4 speed loaders. Stock pistols or pistols with very limited mods. 9mm,.40s&w, .45ACP, .38 special or .380 if shooting a back up gun. bring at least 100 rounds. 200 if you want to practice more. If you have no holsters, we can start you from a gun bag at low ready.  If you feel uneasy drawing from your holster, we can start you from low ready. This day is all about learning about the shooting sports out here. Testing the water so to speak. Glocks and Smith & Wesson M&P lines are popular in stock class. Colt 1911's and clones from Kimber and STI are seen in CDP class. I can class most any gun out their that is suitable for conceal carry. A 8" .44 mag or .50 ACP is not a gun most would carry, However if you want to fire a few rounds off from one, bring enough ammo for me too.

Thanks John. I am getting a huge response on this. I may have more folks that the big match last year. If any of you have training (blue) guns, bring them. If the bays get crowed, I would like to get folks off to the side and do more instruction. Soooo all you range officers come out. I will have a separate sign in sheet for you. :woohoo:

I hope to come and bring my wife. I don't plan on shooting but you know how that goes. I really don't think she will shoot unless she just get's comfortable but if she does great!. If she doesn't I assume it's OK to just show up and observe and help paste or something? I'm not a RO or SO but will be glad to help however I can.

Also I may have missed it but will there be scoring going on for any of this?
