Welcome to the dark side. Glocks are downright fugly, but you can't beat the reliability.

I've been carrying a G26 for quite some time now... love love love that ugly hunk of plastic and steel.

I love my Glock 19 and I don't think it is an ugly gun.  I think in many ways it is a thing of beauty.

I really like my G4 19.  Got about 1400 rounds through it since I got it last year. Was looking for something that went bang every time I pulled the trigger no matter what the ammo. I have run 9 or 10 different kinds of ammo so far and the only failures I had was with TulAmmo MaxX crap, 5 failure to feed out of 200 rounds plus it is dirty.

I had a chance to buy a NIB Glock 19 Gen 4 for $485 shipped to my FFL, tack on another $30 for transfer and background check, would have made it $515 overall.

 

I didn't want to blow through the cash, but damned if I don't have a twinge of regret for not jumping on it.

I may be one of the only people that have not drank the cool-aid.  I still like wheel guns.  Those guns are just so ubiquitous I just can't bring myself to buy one.

You're not the only one. I love wheelies too. However, I do have a couple more semis than wheelies, but still no Glocks. I respect them as reliable tools, but just prefer others.

I've said this before. I started my shooting days with my Dad and his S&W pistols, and never really got into semi-autos.

But this was in the mid 1960s and there really weren't that many commonly (at least around our house)autos available.

So, as I slowly transitioned to the semi in following years, I left the revolvers behind.

Mid 90's I picked up the old K frame again and that was the beginning of a renewal of interest for me.

I'm not quite at 50-50 on autos to revolvers, but it's getting close.

I'm finding more and more that a wheel gun will find its way into the range bag, usually with a 1911 of some flavor. lol Edited June 4, 2015 by hipower

Yep. I paid $500 for a used one in new condition, and thought that was a good deal. That was for a friend. I got mine by swapping a Gen 3 that had a couple of goodies on it.

Richard, now you've gone and done it - you've made me break out my dictionary...  :google:  Seriously, I agree with you about the wheel guns.  I have several autos, and will probably have several more.  But the wheelies are by far my favorites...

Hmm. Seems like Glock was touted as the revolver type of the pistol world some time back. iIRC it had something to do with the Safe-Action trigger pull being more akin to a DA revolver. I thought it was funny as the GLOCK triggers never felt like anything other then a GLOCK trigger to me.

I have some well proven semi's other than Glocks, but I would be perfectly content with only a safe full of Glocks and Smith revolvers. I am just about there anyway.

Glocks tend to appeal to the more serious self-defense devotee. A high percentage of the top trainers in the country - men who could carry whatever they wanted to carry - end up carrying the G19. You are in VERY good company, OP.

I carry a g19 for work everyday. I have had a lot of different firearms over the years but always carry the Glock even when I'm not working.

I concur on your assessment of the G-17/19 frame size assessments Dolo. I neither love nor hate the Glock platforms in that size configuration but I conceed to their utility. I will eventually purchase a 4th gen G-19 and slightly contour the frame under the trigger guard. Done correctly this doesn't detract the guns appearance but improves its feel and pointability. I don't fault the fellows who heavily modify their Glock frames but I prefer a more subtle approach. You can do the same thing with your G-17 and will immediately notice a pronounced improvement..
