My name is Shawn and I just moved back to Nashville for the 3rd time in 7 years. I've lived in over a dozen states and Canada, nothing beats this state. Tonight I just purchased my first gun, Taurus pt111 millennium g2 and plan on many more. I know I need to learn to navigate the forums, but does anyone have recommendations on a ffl dealer to have my gun shipped to?

Welcome back, Shawn. Choice of a dealer covers many things, but first, what part of town are you in?

I personally pick closest first. Then as you learn the different shops, you can get the feel of who you want to deal with.

What their transfer prices are, how they treat you as a browser and as a customer, and whether or not you like the shop and the people there.

I'm in the brentwood/Franklin area. I'd definitely like to keep the cost around $25 and I don't mind driving a ways for good service. I just moved here from Atlanta where every trip is 35 miles and 90 minutes.

Well, depending on what area of Brentwood, you really have a lot of choices.

I won't comment on any other than The Nashville Armory, as I haven't had dealings with the others in the area around Cool Springs, Thompson Station, Franklin, and Spring Hill. You do have a lot of choices. A real lot.

As to the Nashville Armory, it's north on I65 from Brentwood/Old Hickory Blvd.

Large store for this area, good range with pistol and long gun capabilities, good inventory of firearms and supplies, and pretty good staff.

One of the most popular with guys here is Guns& Leather, with 2 stores. One in Hendersonville and one in Greenbriar. Couldn't go wrong with either of these three.

I'm sure others will offer advice on your choices as well.

And congrats on the Taurus! I've had a couple of the PT series guns and have had great service from them. Edited by hipower

Welcome back. When we lived close to Brentwood we still drove all the way to Guns and Leather in Greenbriar to both shoot and purchase guns. It's a great place and not to crowded if you go week days.

Plenty of local pawn shops have FFL's and offer transfers.  One of the local ones here in Murfreesboro does it for $20 plus the $10 TBI background check.  That's better than anybody by about $5.  I'd practice some Google-Fu and see what you can find.

Welcome back, I grew up in Franklin, and now live in Spring Hill. I would recommend Everything Weapons for their indoor range, and they have a good selection at their store off Moores Lane. I little further south, just north of Columbia, is a shop called Northside Guns. I know the owner, and he is very helpful with all his customers.

welcome, and congrats on your first gun!

I highly advise you to try to avoid that in the future.  Most gun shops have on hand or can get a very wide variety of guns, and TN has many, many gun shops.  I could probably hit 50 shops in one day if I were looking for something specific.   Antiques, collectors, etc you might need to buy online and ship, and once in a while you can actually get a better deal buying online and shipping, but mostly time you paid for both shipping AND FFL transfer fees you would have come out ahead by just ordering it from a local shop.  ESP a fairly common item like a current production taurus...  just saying to shop around a little and you might save that 20 bucks to put on a box of ammo.

Welcome, you found the best place in TN to ask gun questions. Most of the folks I know use Triune Saddle /Gun Shop just a short hop from Franklin for

transfers other than that the only thing you have to look out for is the  Punctuation Police Person on this site as you will only receive on warning from

him!! , and it will cause nonstop snorting your soda out your nose.

Welcome to TGO. I just bought a G2 Millennium as well.  I've made an IWB holster and I'm probably going to get a Crimson Trace CMR-206 laser for it. I tried the CMR-203. It's great, but a little wider than the G2 and just a bit longer. It's going to be too hard to make a holster for it, so I'm going with the CMR-206 instead.
