Smith and Wesson hammer pivot pin.

I have a Smith model 15 made in 1971 that had a broken hammer pivot pin. According to everything I read on line Smith says they are not fixable. Tonight I turned down a new pin, milled the frame for it and what do ya know it works perfect. Now if I could only get my hands on several more of those "unfixable" Smith's ;) Edited by dlmeadows

Got a link to that? I'm really curious as to why it would be deemed as such. Unless it enlarged the hole as to weaken the metal.

That happened to my 642 and they repaired it under warranty for me. They had to repair it by replacing the frame and barrel.

Did they not offer to fix yours under warranty? Edited by Trekbike

Anything can be fixed, if not it can be replaced. You can submit a service request on-line.
I would go straight to the source:

I didn't even contact Smith. Someone else had already tried to "fix" it, so I had to fix what was already "fixed" lol

Then I'd imagine you could get a free gun out of it. If they couldn't fix it. A 686 plus would be sweet.
