Hogue Tamer Grips on Ruger LCR

Last year I bought a Smith and Wesson 442 to fill a role in my carry rotation.  Some of you may remember my posting on this forum that shooting it absolutely hurt the webbing of my hand.  I don't just mean recoil, I mean pain.  Rather than trying out some other grip options, I traded it for something else.  That's one I wish I had a do-over on...

Last week I had the opportunity to buy a Ruger LCR 38 from TNcitizen22 through the classifieds here (a great guy and a great price, BTW), and today I had a chance to take it to the range.  Wow, what a difference!  It's actually a little lighter than the 442, but those Hogue Tamer Grips make a world of difference.  If anybody might be on the fence about the LCR because of it's light weight, don't be -- I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Happy to know that the lightweight revolver niche in my collection has again been filled...  :)

I like the Hogue's too but they make the LCR difficult to pocket carry. YMMV.

Yep. As to the 442 you'd have seen an improvement in shooting comfort in it as well with the HTG or like product. When we choose to carry a very compact picket pistol or revolver it's more about the concealment then the shooter comfort. But compromises are possible in shopping for pants with larger deeper pockets or going with an IWBH, or a belt slide holster.

Gald you like the gun with these grips.

I will be getting the Ruger LCRX 38 SPL with the 3" barrel. I am currently carrying the sp101 which I put hogue grips on and even shooting a few rounds of 357 mag's weren't that bad, not easy but acceptable for a small revolver. My 6" gp100's are a lot easier on the hand shooting 357's.

When I get the new gun I'll put together a review.

The LCR is definitely somewhat harder to conceal in a pocket than the 442 was because of the grips.  It's all a trade-off I guess.  It also came with the Hogue Boot grip, and I'm anxious to give it a try.  It would definitely be more concealable.  Ugly as sin, but concealable...  :D

I posted about my experience with the three incher. I have several LCRs and the three inch is now my favorite. The barrel length suits front pocket carry as the revolver wont fall all the way down in the pocket.

With the three incher, or the snubby with the no finger groove three inch grip. You can shoot +Ps all day. The longer no finger grip eliminates the snappy of the short barrel LCR. Magic!

Hogue sells the grips alone but I'm going to wait until the price and shipping come down. Then I will change out the shorter grips on the three inches siblings.
