Supposed to be trading for one this evening. I'm trying to learn about the "New Model vs Old Model" thing, so if anyone has some expertise in that area, feel free to impart knowledge. I've run a few 1911's over time, but never owned a Colt 1911. Looks like an interesting piece, but I'm not sure yet what to do with it.

Figured I'd try this one on and see how it fits, so any good information would help.

Point , shoot , repeat !

Older models shorter synthetic trigger , only stainless now and longer metal trigger , barrel/bushing vs. no bushing , maybe a little better quality since 2009 ..... Edited by Fourtyfive

Can the new models handle full power loads? The old models couldn't.

I wouldn't push it. The biggest, most knowledgeable 1911 fan that I know says no 1911 is capable of nuclear 10mm loads.

The unramped barrel and full power DO NOT play well together. Places like underwood have special Delta Elite loads for 10mm available. If reloading, consult the manual, most published data in manuals isn't up to original 10mm specs. Other models from STI, DanWesson, Wilson , NHC, etc....can handle full power loads and have a ramped barrel and full chamber support.

Well, went ahead and picked it up last night. It's nice. Ain't got to shoot it yet, just fondle it. May post some pictures this week. I've been pleasantly surprised at the quality feel of the Colt.

Finally shot this thing yesterday with some Hornady ammo. I can see why people feel comfortable carrying this caliber in hog and "bar" country. Good accurate gun and all the shootin went off without a hitch. Well made gun + stout round = big cheesy grins. Seems like a purty good heavy hitter.

Can we get some pictures already?!?!

Congrats on the purchase. Solid guns.

Yep. If I could get one posted on here. Can't seem to figure out how though.
