AK47 Sight problem after barrel threading

I recently took my Bulgarian SA-93 (milled receiver) to a local gunsmith to have the barrel reverse threaded to accept a krink muzzle brake. Prior to this modification, the rifle was dead on at 75 yards with the front sight centered, but afterwards, I could not even hit paper at 50 yards. I have adjusted the front sight as far as it will allow to the left, and I am still shooting 3 inches to the left at 50 yards. (Yes on a rest) I suspect the front sight and/or the barrel got torqued to the right during the threading process, but I am a bit reluctant to start "cranking" things to the left. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I suspected that too. This is the most accurate AK I've ever shot and this sight problem is driving me nuts. I found this fix on the net. http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/fsbcantfix.htm I'm sure this would work, but as I said in the first post, the sight was dead on before the barrel was threaded. Could I just try to torque it in the opposite direction and hope it moves back into its original position and stays put?

I padded a big vise. Took a a 5 pound rubber mallet and whacked the crap out of mine

twice. I tried tapping it at first. That did not work. My AK74 was GTG after.

If you had it at a Gunsmith ,let him look at it.

Take it back to the gunsmith first and let him know whats going on. Might want to check and see if he removed the barrel and FSB to thread it on a lathe or if he just used a die stock.

If all is fine there, then whack the crap out of it.:tough:

He used a die stock. I have a feeling they put the front sight in a vise to hold the sucker while threding the barrel. I'm bringing it back today to see if they will correct it. If not, I will "whack the crap out of it." I should have bought the die and did the job myself. Oh well, live and learn. I appreciate the advice.
