GSG-5 Opinions

I saw a GSG-5 rifle this weekend. It is a German-made clone of the MP5 in .22LR caliber. Anybody have any experience with them? It looks like a really cool little weapon for under $500.

a buddy of mine has one. its a great plinker!

you can use airsoft accesories for it. the only complaint I have heard is that the stock will need to be replaced by a solid stock. other than that, you'll turn some heads at the range when you pull that baby out!

A buddy of mine has one and got to play with it yesterday. Great fun, but at $500 plus it is not high on the priority list.

I'm the buddy, and he's right, it's a lot of fun. I put a quality airsoft folding stock and Aimpoint clone on mine right off the bat. Didn't cost much, and the gun looks and shoots great.

great 22 tac gun, if there is such a thing.

I agree. I just added 3x hi-cap mags, a high quality sling and aux HK snap adapter, rail mount and cheapy Reflex optics for approx $200. Not too bad.

The options are as endless as with ARs, etc. I have no interest in tac rails on the forearm or VFG for a .22 fun gun but you can do so if you like for another $100.

I recall earlier this year someone on another forum posted all the mods he had just done to his GSG-5. I thought, "What a dope. Putting all that money on a gun you would never shoot anyone with." Then I started thinking. My tricked out AR was nothing more than that either. Me, Civilian Joe, would likely never shoot anyone with my AR either and it cost waaaaaaaay more to trick out ... and feed. In a HD scenario I'm grabbing a shotgun or pistol ... and will K-I-S-S, only adding a light.
