Aftermarket stock for Savage 116

Recommended Posts

I bought a Savage 116 Trophy Hunter in 30-06 a couple of years back.  I would like to put an aftermarket stock on it and was looking for suggestions based on your personal experiences.  Looking for "best" in terms of weight, design, etc.  I am leaning toward a synthetic instead of wood.  I am also going to have to replace the mag and order the bottom metal from Savage to be able to continue to use the DBM as the one currently on my rifle uses that Axis mags, which have the plastic trim/clip piece instead of a separate mag release on the bottom of the rifle.  Anyway, just looking for thoughts to help guide my decision as some of you guys are wiser than you realize.  Thanks for your help...

I really like the PDS/T and they will build it at any LOP you want. They are also very light.

Another that I really like is the Boyds tactical stocks. They are a lot cheaper because they are wood but they feel really nice.

They are not as heavy as a lot of the other "tactical" stocks you find.
