Thought I'd best pause here to introduce myself; actually joined some time ago - but, sorry Fellas/Gals - haven't been able to get by here again since then.

And so; I'm not much of an "Online Joiner," but I thought perhaps supporting any way I can the "TGO" Forum could in some way make some positive differences, or - help us all hold onto what we care about; believe about.

Looking forward to sharing stories, and any interesting history, tips, new methods, ideas, etc. RE Sporting Arms & restoration; I'm currently about midway or so through a complete "de-mod" restoration of a MilSurp carbine. It's been quite a challenge, & a heck of a lot of fun. Also, learned quite a lot, too. Always learning; this is a very good thing. Besides, it keeps me honest & off the streets...?

I'm glad to be here, so far! Nice to here, nice to "meet" ya 'all.

Hope this doesn't get me booted; but I'm a transplant from northern New England; [Coastal Maine,] that is. Maine has always been home, yet I've been here really digging life & these ways of the "Folks" of the Great State of Tennessee for about oh, since 1989 anyhow; I'm lousy with math. Thanks, Friends...

At first I was going to mention the make; but - then had a hunch that it being a Military-Surplus "De-Mod" MIGHT give it away? Ha, ha....

It's a (1956) Model-Type 56; "Factory" 316" carbine; [7.62x39] I'm never left unimpressed w/ the incredibly basic, functioning, RUGGEDNESS & overall design  of of these weapons...Very impressive. Think I could probably run it over w/ the Jeep & it wouldn't harm it, or it's functionality one bit! Yea, been loads of fun, tracking a few parts down, etc. too...

***Got her from another swap w/ a GA State HP Pal; it "Wore" a composite stock, and all of the add-ons available from the Internet & WalMart; however - he had ALL the original stuff; furniture, etc. This really got me; and so, thought I couldn't pass this "Winter Project" up. Far as I can determine, and it's tricky I understand; that is - identifying, getting the year of make correct...etc. it seems for all I can tell, a 1956 make. I did little steaming/dents n' gouges repair to her; the original wood was pretty nice for an old model...
