Sightron Scopes

I am looking for a variable scope for tactical 223 carbine and am considering the Sightron 1-7x SIII. Looking at "true" 1x if there is such an animal. Let's say very close to 1x so it can be comfortably used like a red dot. Been researching Sightron and they seem to get good reviews for glass quality and customer service etc. Has anyone on the forum have or used a Sightron scope or even the 1-7x specifically?

Plenty of 1x scopes out there that are also magnified. Problem is finding one with the same eye relief as a typical 1x only scope.

An option that I ran for a very long time is to mount a micro red dot to the scope tube of the magnified optic. You can get a picatinny mount that clamps to the scope tube for under $10 now. Then buy the red dot and mount it where you want it on the tube. I tried on top and at a 45 degree angle and prefer on top.

It is also possible to get a 45 degree mount for the red dot that mounts to the top rail of the weapon.

I only know of one optic that is a 1x with the proper eye relief and is magnified and it is an Elcan Spectre. You might get lucky and find one for under $2k.

I haven't used any Sightron brand stuff, but have a Primary Arms 1-4 on my carbine.

It is not a true 1x but is very close, I have no problem with both eyes open and improper positioning. I can hold my carbine off my shoulder, out at full arms reach and still see the reticle, but it does have the fish bowl affect. With my eye positioned at the very end of the stock the reticle is fully in focus for me at 1x. Edited by jonathon1289
