Not too many happy people on that thread, can't say as I blame them either. I don't own one, but right now I'm glad. Seems a few guys had ideas for using other replacement parts, but I would not be happy about that as an only option. Hope they are not going to have as many problems as they expect.

From what I recall, the guys at Remington said they were just gonna rebrand the Para guns under the Remington name or something to that effect. I can't remember due to my ADD at the NRA show.

The feeling I got from them was that they weren't getting rid of anything, just rebranding it.

Good grief; a 1911 turning into a “paper weight” because Para was sold to Freedom Group? You would think if they found the 1911 forum they would know better than that.

Having been left to scrounge for specialized parts myself when a gun maker went bust, Para owners have my sympathy bigtime if all the guesstimates of continued parts availability on the 1911 Forums fall through. Scrounging usually ain't much fun.

My understanding from the NRA  convention; when talking to the Remington guy was that the line would continue. But it would just be branded as Remington.

Now I'm not so sure.

I was not too impressed by Para's 1911s,loosest slide to frame I ever felt and a trigger that stunk

plus its series 80s....No offence but there was much better 45s worth owning

Older Paras were great however

Concur on the older, pre move Para's being good pistol's, I just never wanted one bad enough to buy one and don't figure I missed anything.

I am more concerned with Freedom Group buying up another gun manufacturer than the relative merits of Para's quality or lack thereof.

The bigger they are the harder they fall.

In terms of never going away, it doesn't get any bigger than Remington. Even if the Freedom Group falls flat on its ass, somebody will pick up that torch and run with it.
