Compact 1911 10mm ?

Yep bobtailed stainless. Discontinued and when you do find them they are pricey, as you have found out :)

Aside from a full house custom, I think that's your only 1911 option.

Of course there is the Glock 29 and also I think the EAA witness compact is available in 10mm, not sure.

Edit: just thought, you might could find a S&W 610 with a 3-4" barrel and some smaller grips. Edited by nightrunner

If you do go with the DW, you will not be disappointed. I absolutely love my VBob.

I carry a G20sf anytime I'm at the lease or during deer season, so I'd pick up a g29 and be happy.

I've got 4 Glocks but I just don't shoot them well. I swear I'm gonna sell them but I can't bring myself to it ..... Edited by Fourtyfive

I did this, once. Got 3 glocks again. The 1911's are still there and I still shoot them better. But sometimes the Glock is a better tool for the job. The little g29 was my answer to the same question. RIA makes a 4" 10mm. I just can't carry a steel 1911 easily. And alloy frame and high pressure 10mm doesn't sound like a good mix.

Always wondered why glock didn't produce a G36 type 10mm. I bet the reduced slide mass would cause some issues. Same would probably hold true for a 29s if produced. Edited by Jct1911

I have been setting aside a $1000 for a 610 to cross my path. They are hard to come by.

There were a few 3rd gen autos with 4.25" barrels. The 1086 and the 1076 are the most desireable.

Also check Fusion Firearms. They might be considered custom, but I believe they have some 10mm stuff

Fusion will do a 10mm officers build, I've actually seen pics of a few. My only issue is that Fusion doesn't live up to the hype. I'd throw money at a used Cbob( same builder, pre CZ, Bob Serva)before I'd get a new fusion.

I've seen an example of .40s&w officers model reamed to 10mm on a STI.

This is something I definitely DID NOT need to know. Check out that little colt commando he got on there. It's not a 10, but it's pretty cool.

Me neither!  I was looking at what he's got and it's pretty nice. Sent him an email to verify that it's an "open" shop and not just on line sales.

I'd really like to look at some of those he's got to sell.

If talking purely energy, .45super isn't all that far off from 10mm power.

.460rowland requires a compensator or porting. It's too much pressure and slide velocity with a standard barrel on a 1911. You can't get a recoil spring stout enough to handle it alone.
