Baltimore in the hot seat now!!!!!

More thugs using this as an excuse to mug people and steal stuff.  I don't want to see anyone get hurt, but maybe if the reporters start getting involved like this, they will stop glorifying it as a bunch of disgruntled honor roll students expressing their frustration.

I can’t seem to find much on this. Anyone seen any medical or coroner reports? Any statements form the PD?

I don't think they're done. Last I read, waiting on toxicology. Somebody knows what happened, but they ain't sayin'. One officer took the 5th.

That of course is everyone's right and should not be extrapolated to mean he's hiding something.  Civilians are commonly told to say nothing except "I want to speak to my attorney" after a self-defense shooting.  Everything that happens after a fatality is the domain of lawyers.  It's best to let them do what they went to school for and are paid the big bucks for.

That particular cop might just be the smart one.

He may also be the one that stands up and tells the truth. It would be the best for everyone if the truth comes out quickly.

Well, I won't pretend to know about the situation, but I did see this posted by the FOP there in Maryland 3D9D2958-764B-40AF-9951-BF5739BC27D6_zps

The report that I saw said that the guy's spinal cord was 80% severed in his upper thoracic spine with no broken bones. That takes a hell of a lot of force, folks, that I just don't see the cops being able to inflict on their own. Dude ran from the popo and might have been mouthy to the wagon driver. The driver doing a brake check without the prisoner secured to something, (laying on the floor), could certainly generate enough force to accomplish this damage considering it looked like he was loaded head first.

Folks, every please keep in mind the source of all the information we are getting on this...I take every single piece of news reported nowadays with a grain of salt, and stories like these with a dump truck load of salt...The media reporting this is the same media that reported on the Ferguson mess, and we all know how accurate that all turned out to be in the end :)

Good ole Mark Twain said it best...

I'm all about the truth coming out in this or any other LE related matter which generates public concern or suspicion. The media and agitators will always find anything and everything to say about what happened. You can expect this investigation and outside controlled agitating to be prolonged.

Big Al's already there and organizing a march. I guess it took a week for the check to clear.

Agreed. Just offering the little tidbit that I had read.

Don't think anyone has brought up the circumstances of his knife? Which is not illegal in MD, but may or may not be illegal in Baltimore, and may or may not be why he was initially confronted and/or arrested?

What is the official reason for the arrest, anyway? Meaning what was the charge?

According to the news there was no suspicion of a crime; just that he ran when he saw the police and it is a high, drug-related crime area. I guess up there you better not start jogging when a cop's around. :)

Well, it's not legal anywhere to arrest a person with no charge, AFAIK.

That's the strange part to me. Can it be "resisting arrest" just for running? Even if the original intent of the officers was just to question him? (From what I've read)

Don't see how you can "resist arrest" if you weren't being arrested in the first place, and an arrest requires a reason, ie a charge.

"Interfering with a police investigation" is sometimes trumped up as reason for arrest -- but in this case have never heard any mention of an actual charge of any kind.

This may be a minority opinion; but i don't care what happens in Baltimore... A quick check of the history of Baltimore will tell ya that it has been under Democrat control since 1967... That means that for 48 years the "best and brightest" including the one they have now have been in firm control of this cesspool... I think it's interestin that since 2007, they have had two black women mayors...

I thought that this bunch would have turned Baltimore into a paradise by now... I guess not...

There have always been two Baltimores; the one downtown around Fort McHenry and the harbor basin, and everywhere else... It looks pretty dangerous to me in both Baltimores...

Looks ta me like the citizens of Baltimore deserve better than this; but they are gonna have to change their attitudes and votin habits...

Just got an email that my industries annual national convention scheduled for Baltimore this week has been canceled. Talked to a guy that drove in yesterday and said it was awful...

There is no justification for the rioting. Rioting and vandalism only serves to keep the root cause of the underlying frustration from being addressed. The peaceful protesters have legitimate concerns, but their cause is once again being highjacked.

Question for the legal hounds:

Would businesses that have been looted in the city, have a legitimate case if they sued the city because of the mayor coming out and saying the police should give those who want to destroy things, space?

They pay taxes which goes for police services, so I would think they may actually have a case.
