I can remember when we used to have a "constitution" party. I think they called themselves Republicans.

Waste of effort. It's time to revamp the GOP. They already have the infrastructure and the finances. Like it or not, there's a reason why third parties never get anywhere and never will. American politics is functionally a two party system and always will be.

I am in complete agreement here. The GOP needs an overhaul, third parties never seem to make it off the ground. I am going to be doing my best at the local level to get this going. I advise others to do the same.

The GOP needs top-down firings courtesy of the constituents. Fire the old guys, bring in the fresh blood. There is a whole generation of "Reagan Republicans" out there comping at the bit to be given a chance. It's time the out of touch old farts be given their walking papers.

'Reagan republicans' aren't what this country needs - we need to reinstate the 10thA. That would cure a lot of what ails us...

Last I heard the Constitution Party was basically theocratic Republicans. No thanks.

You heard wrong - they are strict constructionist constitutionalists - a long way from anything the repubs have been for decades...

I think its the theocratic part that bothers him, and me too.

They can reason away two peoples' right to freely engage in a contract with one another based on their sexual preference. That's hardly a constructionist view.

The Constitution Party reminds me of a bible study of folks who use lots of code words based on the writings of Jefferson and Madison. They don't at all strike me as having much respect for individual liberty unless it fits into their idea of being biblically approved.

I apologize for sounding rude. I know I'm being crass in disagreeing with you. It bothers me, though, to see the Constitution get mixed up with so much dismissive, hateful religion. This was never the Framer's intent.

+1

The whole thing is somewhat of an oxymoron if you ask me.

I am one of those people who would be much happier if the American government abided by the Constitution, and only the Constitution, and we were able to sort most other things out on our own.

That said, the "Seven Priciples" of the Constitution Party scare the bejesus out of me. "Theocratic, isolationist hypocrites" would be putting it mildly...
