Joshua Lancaster, a spokesperson from the office of Governor Jerry Brown, made the following statement to the press, “The time to make clear cut changes surrounding our current gun laws is here. The ban on this unnecessary ammunition is a major step towards a safer society for our children. There are no obvious or justifiable reasons for one to own or use semi-automatic handgun ammunition of that caliber, if 9mm and .40 S&W rounds are sufficient for our police force to protect us with, they are sufficient for any private citizen’s personal protection.

Especially considering LAPD SWAT uses .45acp...

And I'm sure many other LE agencies do as well.

And they just created a HUGE black market. Edited by nightrunner

After 60 days would they be going to go to everyone's house that bought a .45 handgun recently to confiscate them? There may not be official registration, but it's basically the same thing when the ATF form requires model and serial number.

And would they look at Wal-Mart receipts to go after the evil ammo people just bought but haven't shot yet? None of that would surprise me in that commy state. Edited by netmindr

They should mark these satire sites better. Raises my blood pressure every time.

I'm a California native who has lived in Tennessee for nineteen years, but I still have family out there and try to stay up on what the idiotic state legislature is doing on gun issues. If you want information about a gun issue in the state, California gun owners have a really busy gun forum called www.calguns.net.  It has over 207,000 members, with over 27,000 active members. It is really fast moving - I listed some mags for sale with them and my WTS post moved three pages back in only 24 hours.

My experience is that If the State or local governments do anything or even propose anything detrimental to California gun owners, you'll hear the howling the loudest on that website.

I'm a big fan of satire and that was a well written piece. Always funny to see how many people immediately believe anything that they read on the internet.

Anyone notice all the expensive commercials running from California and New York?

Come visit California because we need the tourism bucks and... Move your business to New York, no taxes for ten years and preferential treatment.

I guess the moving trucks are leaving post haste.

I wish there was a waiting period to become a resident of the state and an even longer waiting period to vote in local elections. I have noticed the same thing as well. I have talked to NY transplants and they are talking about using lawsuits to make Tennessee more like NYC. If they like NYC so much why not just move back?

It bears mentioning from time to time I think, that BHO got 43% of the vote here in '08. And still almost 40% in '12 after four years of showing his ass.

I wonder what Hildebeeste will get?

I see no reason to believe that Dem % will do anything but increase. Though this gets diluted well on state level presently,  it's still a one sided trend that will eventually trash that too.

I rember when we first moved in the person from down the road felt obligated to stop by our place block my vehicle in our driveway to Inform us "just so you know don't be voting the way you did up North here" Really rubbed me the wrong way when he started telling me who I needed to vote for. At that point I asked him if he had has always been a full fledged Idiot or if he was trying real hard to become one? To each their own but don't automatically assume someone is a liberal based on their license plate. Wasnt really the best way to introduce yourself if you ask me. Thing that bothered me the most was that this guy had no idea what his chosen candidates voting record was no. Idea how they voted on important issues but he could espouse how I needed to vote for them. I am all for a intelligent debate and exchange of ideas but really. Edited by wcd

I was born and raised in a rough neighborhood just north of Los Angeles. I've spent the last 30 years in California, aside from Vegas trips, 6 months in the south, and a year and a half in Iraq as an Infantry Marine.

Make no mistake, California has a huge community of devout gun owners, reloaders, and casters, who participate in every type of shooting competition imagineable. I've sold factory ammo and weapons on Calguns. They all move the same day and I get plenty of inquiries after I've sold stuff. There are also 4 companies in the California State Militia, mostly former military, which span the entire state. But still, regardless of the fact my entire family is there, it's not enough to keep me in California. I can't live the lifestyle I want to live here. The cost of living is through the roof and the traffic has me cussing in my SUV more often than I'd like to admit.

This post, or even the perception of it being believable, is just one of the many reasons my wife and I are getting out. She was born and raised in north Georgia so her family will be close when we move to Tennessee. That's the reason I joined this forum, although I do spend a lot more of my internet time on Calguns.net. I don't need anyone to tell me whether or not I'm "worthy" of living in Tennessee. That's where my wife and I want to raise our family. I am absolutely pro 2nd ammendment in it's truest form, "shall not be infringed," as are many of my friends and family here. I am a college graduate, a disabled veteran, and a contributing member to our society in the field of medical laboratory science. Believe you me, without a shadow of a doubt, California has one of the highest prepping populations of any state, due to the tyranny that occurs here. In many places outside of California, I am eligible for a CCW, which I'm hoping changes soon. There have been talks about a federal CCW which would overule the communism that occurs in Commiefornia. We'll see if it's the fluff I think it is. Regardless, getting my CCW and my wife's is a high priority when we get to TN.

I would proudly stand shoulder-to-shoulder with any of you fine gentleman, if the day were to come where we had to fight off a government led by a tyrant, or an invasion from a foreign country. I am already well prepared for that and I keep my wife and son, well-trained as well, not just in long range accuracy, but also in quick target acquisition.

I'm under no illusions. I'm NOT white, but there IS racism in the south. If in the unfortunate chance I encounter that (which I haven't througout 6 months in the Carolinas and Georgia) then I'm prepared for that as well. If you any of you see a bald brown guy with a thick black beard, ask me if I know Grunt81 lol. I'm sure we'll all get along just fine, but I won't tolerate racism in any form. I was born in, and paid a very high price to live in this great country. My wife is white and a former Marine Captain. And we're going to raise children who defend the 2nd ammendment and all of our freedsoms that seem to keep slipping away.

WTF! That's very surprising. I thought the southern states were dominantly Replubican. Well Hildebeeste isn't getting anything from me or mine.

I'm voting Rand Paul if he's the Replubican candidate. I don't care really about anything else other than the fact that he is pro guns. Nothing else matters to me. A few things we can always count on is death, taxes, and corruption in government.

.... There have been talks about a federal CCW which would overule the communism that occurs in Commiefornia. We'll see if it's the fluff I think it is. ...

There have been bills, one of which almost passed a few years ago, to force nationwide recognition for any state's carry permit, but never heard anything about a "federal carry permit".

Both of these I see as a very dangerous thing to happen, btw. For the simple reason that anything the fed get the precedent to be allowed to grant, it is equally allowed to ban.

Now, if Congress or (actually better probably,  SCOTUS) wants to simply incorporate firearm carry as an individual right, at least forcing all states to be "shall issue" permit issuing based on nothing more restrictive than the federal standards for gun ownership, that's another matter. Even better of course would be no permits at all, but that's a pipe dream currently, and perhaps ever so.

The matter of "keeping" firearms has been incorporated, although the battle of what, how, and which hoops one must still jump through to do so will be ongoing. But the "bearing" of them has not.

edit: ps, a "pre-welcome" to TN. :)

Not hardly.  Hate to burst your bubble but The South is full of democrats.  Just like the rest of the county the overwhelming majority of urban areas, i.e., the population centers, vote blue in national elections.  It doesn't help that everyone else in the country wants to move down here bringing their politics with them...no offense.
