Teacher Diantha Harris browbeats McCain supporting student, Kathy,in Ashville N.Carolina grade school. The poor girl is obviously distressed over the teacher's line of questiong and belittling her choice of candidate in front of her school mates.

See how she singles out the little white girl and mocks her for having an absent parent, who is off defending the country, and lies to her, saying her Dad would have to stay in Iraq for a hundred years? The little girl was ready to cry! Disgusting.

Diantha Harris: It’s a senseless war! [stares at Kathy.] And by the way, Kathy, the person that you’re picking for president said [Harris shakes her head] that our troops could stay in Iraq for another hundred years if they need to! [Kathy bites her lip, looks ashamed. Other kids stare at Kathy, laugh, smirk.] So that means that your daddy could stay in the military for another hundred years!

[Kathy is on verge of tears.]

[in an interview later:]

Diantha Harris: Now I can support whomever I want to support, as long as I don’t browbeat another person for the candidate that they supported. Like I have some students that support John McCain, and when they told me that, I said ah … “that’s good’ and I just moved on. So, I think that everybody is entitled to their own personal opinion.

Turns my stomach... I'd have some very serious discussions with the teacher and her superiors.

To think that such a pile of excrement is responsible for educating our children makes me want to vomit.

If she is that ethically bankrupt in this regard, imagine what else she would be capable of intimidating into the thoughts of our children.

That stinks. Most of the teacher's unions are very leftist and democratic. My wife is a rutherford county teacher and refuses to join any of the unions purely for their political stance. Sux.

that's the way it goes. most liberals are cowards and will promote their socialist agenda on people that either can't put up a good argument or are so young that they think they can inculate them with socialism.

The superintendent was not happy with this. But, the parents of the little girl say, "There should be no repercussions at all."

"Cumberland County Schools Superintendent William Harrison called the statements inappropriate.“I was shocked when I saw the clip of an interaction between a Cumberland County Schools teacher and her students as posted on YouTube,†Harrison said in a statement.

Harrison said he has started an investigation and would “take appropriate action.â€

The superintendent made his own statement on YouTube about the matter.

“Most disconcerting was the military slant that made its way into this discussion,†he said. “We are a military community, serving over 15,000 military students and their families. We value the sacrifices, not only of the military parents but also those of their families.â€

Cumberland County is home to Fort Bragg and the 82nd Airborne.

Cathy Thompson said Friday she wasn't upset at the time. Her parents, Angela Moore and Army Staff Sgt. Robert Thompson, also said they weren't mad at the teacher.

Moore said her daughter never mentioned feeling as if she was being picked on.

“Mrs. Harris is always active with the children like that,†Moore said. “I have sat in her class when my Cathy was a student, and she was very active with the children. She tries to get them involved with everything.â€

Robert Thompson said when he first watched the clip Friday, he understood why some would see it as Harris trying to change his daughter's mind.

But after hearing Harris' side and talking with his daughter, he now thinks Harris is “getting a rough deal.â€
