Where was the NRA???????????????????????

I am not trying to get any flaming, etc, going but i have been and am in the last few days getting even more upset! On all of the forums somebody has a thread going about that we all need to join as well as get recruitment drives going for the NRA! It has me highly pi--ed! During the last 2 elections the NRA was all over with great informative stuff, but in the last 4 yrs. they were in the news briefly during gun confiscations

during Katrina!

However during this most imp. election those SOBs were nowhere to be found, i after 20 yrs. of membership and contrib. finally let my membership expire last month, and am very proud of it!

My best advise at this point to all gun owners is, instead of wasting $35.00 for a totally useless membership, is to buy a 20 round box of .223 ss 109 ammo, which is selling for $39.99 at centerfire!

That way, you have at least some protection, when the Home-guard Zombie squad comes wearing Body Armor, wanting to take your guns!

Well, that's your opinion... and one you're entitled to. However, it's not one shared by the majority on this site that feel the NRA (while not perfect) is the best organization out there, with enough power, to fight for our rights.

And your idea of buying bullets, with the saved money, to fire on the government when they come for your guns... good luck on that.

what BK and verbal said.

the 35 bucks i sent the NRA will do more good than a freaking box of bullets.

NRA bashers really make me shake my head. My voice alone is not worth much. But add all NRA members together and legislators listen. They do not have to be in the paper daily or on the TV to be working for our cause. And just because they back off on a stance does not mean they are sell outs. Getting things done in DC is all about comprimise.

Do you seriously think Heller would have stood a chance without the NRA?

Perhaps it could be applied to a down payment on body armor? Hmm... but then you wouldn't have any bullets to shoot back... Fie! What a conundrum! :)

NRA basher? I was a member for 20 yrs. and nobody can tell me where they were, the last time around? During the 2 previous elec. they were all over and did great! Just stating facts!

Big time. Didn't they help with the court costs too? He might not have been able to afford to take it all the way to the SCOTUS without the NRA.

Ever hear of Olafson, the dude who loaned an AR to a neighbor, and it fired full-auto bursts, due to a defect! They really helped him a lot, poor dude is a felon doing time!

It is sad when all i wanted an answer to a question, and so many folks get rude and crude!

1. You showed up pissed off (by your own admission).

2. Referred to the NRA as "SOBs"

3. Urged people to buy ammo, instead of membership, so they could carry out illegal actions.

Did I miss anything?

You didn't create the thread to pose a legitimate question... you did it to piss and moan about the NRA. Like I said, you're pretty much alone here with your anti-NRA feelings.

Sorry you didn't get the warm reception you had anticipated. If my vasectomy comment rubbed you wrong, rest assured it was nothing more than a joke.

Yes, i clearly stated that i am upset about the NRA, i never urged anybody to do anything illegal! Zombies are always talked about, and a lot of criminals and home invaders have been wearing Body armor in the last 25 yrs! Why do you think, the uzi and mp5 were replaced, their 9mm was useless! I just can never forget how great the NRA was in the last 2 elections! All i wondered is what happened this time around, to me it seemed they had abandoned Olafson from the start!

So far i still have not seen an answer to my question!

It seems to me that the NRA picks it's battles, one at a time. Unfortunately, the battle you wanted them to fight was not, at the time, with the political climate being the way it was, the best way to support our interests or spend our money. They have done a splendid job for many years and, I would imagine, will continue to do so. We have many, expensive battles ahead. JMHO.

Maybe you should start your own group and see how well you can do? Like Verbal said, they aren't perfect, but they are pretty much the only group with enough power to even be listened to by the legislators.

Here's an answer to your question: The NRA was at their HQ figuring out how best to keep Obama (who everyone knew would win) from getting another ban passed or ultimately reversing the Heller decision. That's where they were.

No they didn't.

I agree that the NRA is not perfect, but they were hardly absent from the past election. They ran many ads advertising Obama's position on guns, and his voting history. These ads were run on radio and TV in the the battleground states where there was a chance the election could go either way. Tennessee, on the other hand, was safely in McCain territory, so there was no need to spend advertising money here. So, just because you did not see the NRA in Tennessee, doesn't mean they were not out fighting the fight.

Ever hear of Olafson, the dude who loaned an AR to a neighbor, and it fired full-auto bursts, due to a defect!

You may want to think twice about using David Olafson as an example. Olafson knew his gun was malfunctioning and sometimes firing bursts (making it a machinegun). He could have put in a new LPK and solved the problem, but he didn't. He is paying the price for his stupidity.

I guess Heller Vs DC was never in the news around you. I guess the NRA adds, flyers, and information about Obama, Kerry, Hillary, Edwards, Biden, etc never made it to you. I guess the NRA adds were in magazines you don't read.

As for the bozo with the "broken" AR to which you refer, take the time to read about it before you blather.

On avg. i get 8-10 gun mags a month, and never saw any NRA ads anywhere, tv,radio or paper! But i remember in the 2 previous elections, i saw them all over, so why not during the most imp. one?

Most gun owners usually bad-mouth CNN news, but i believe that Lou Dobbs did more to bring out the story with Olafson and his AR! But after he went to jail, which Dobbs and many called a travesty of justice, all went quiet, except that a lot of rumors all of a sudden pop up,that Olafson knew about the malfunction! Easily swept under rug, since we all knew something like this would never happen here!

Also not once did the lesser of 2 evils Mcshame, confront Obamjie on his anti-gun stands, neither did the NR(O)A (Nat.Obamjie Ass.) in any statement or ad! Like someone earlier in here stated, the NRA was in its offices trying to figure out what to do! Guess they decided on nothing!

Fired full auto due to a defect????? He knew that the gun had issues and yet continued to keep it the same instead of getting it fixed. And BTW, your little 62 gr ss109's wont penetrate the level 4 armor that the boys will be wearing, so your wasting your money there too. Since you were a member of the NRA, did you not read the magazine that they sent you? It was full information about Obama and his record. The NRA is the biggest gun rights advocate that we have.

Posted

Yea, i got all their info. on stuff i knew, which should have been sent to non-members,along with them wanting contr. And only saw the NRA on TV 2x last few yrs. Katrina and Heller!

Posted

The NRA is about the only friend we have lobbying for us. The elections and liberals are all the NRA have talked about in their mag. and TV ads. It seems that all the NRA bashers want to blame someone.

Obama got elected because the liberal media convinced over 50% of the US that everthing that is wrong in the US is Bushes fault. Dont blame the NRA.

Posted

If you are really upset with the NRA and can not bring yourself to maintain a membership why don't you join one of the other Gun Rights groups like Second Amendment Foundation or JPFO.

Posted

Again! Why in the hell in the last 2 elections, tv ads, etc,all the time! But this time in the most important one, nothing! They were scared just like McShame.

Slim, you really seem to be living in your own little world and nothing anyone says here is going to convince you any different. Rather than keep this crap going, why don't you move on to something else?

I'm closing this thread. Troll elsewhere.
