Walther PPKs

What is the deal with these? Did I miss something? I'm compiling my list of guns I want to buy this year and have been looking around the web and can't seem to find a single one in stock.

the PPKs is a result of the 1968 GCA and a bit of a hybrid due to that very thing. I had a very poor experience with the one I owned and a couple of others I fired. The were unreliable and due to grip design uncomfortable to shoot in the .380ACP caliber. I've known others though who liked theirs so it's a matter of taste. More modern pocket pistols are available that are less expensive as well as being reliable. Buy one if you find one you like.

Since Walther split off from S&W there are a lot of guns they are making in their own factory here in the states. The PPK, PPK/S is not one of those. Those pistols IIRC are still made in Germany and were imported into the states. Germany is not exporting guns into the USA atm, thus no PPK's.

 

Or something along those lines at least.

I know there are less expensive guns that fit the bill, but it's more the novelty of owning one that tickles my fancy.

Metalhead, that's interesting information. I see em on the used market frequently. I'll prob have to go that route.

Walther and Smith & Wesson will maintain their strategic alliance on several fronts—Smith & Wesson will continue to manufacture the PPK for Walther Arms, Inc. and CARL WALTHER will continue to manufacture the M&P22 handgun for S&W. Additionally, UMAREX will continue to license the Smith & Wesson brand for airgun products.

IMO Smith & Wesson should have got out of that relationship long ago. S&W has outstanding customer support; you see a complaint now it’s usually over a Walther.

I wish S&W would do a run of that M&P22 handgun here.

You are aware of the S&W M&P22 Compact which is 100% S&W made, correct? Not that much smaller but better quality than the Walther made full sized version.

I'm quite fond of my PPKs. There are plenty of used ones out there. Just keep looking.

I like my ppk/s. The newer ones have a beavertail added which was not on the original. Mine was built be Ranger in Alabama for interarms. I got it for around $400.

Any issues with it? I've always like the PPK/s designs, but scared off by the way too many stories of malf's.

I did not know that, thanks for posting that.
However, I use .22’s for trigger time, not carry, so I would like to have a full size.

I bought a PPK in .22 from Wideners last year. It's a fun little gun and shoots adequately. I think I paid about $380.00 for it.

And I feel like Bond when I shoot it.

Love my Stainless one, had it for years. Great thing about is if I were to run out of ammo I could just through the thing at someone, it's a little brick!

Well just from what I have read online there were a lot of problems with the full size made by Walther. So smith made it just a bit smaller for smaller hands and they manufacture it themselves and it has typical S&W quality instead of airsoft quality. I may be mistaken but I think S&W discontinued the full sized Walther version.
