Anyone tried Alliant BE-86 Powder yet?

Well...it's out of stock at Graf's now...but was there yesterday LOL. Just as sign of the times I guess.

Graf's: http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/product/productId/27126

Alliant: http://www.alliantpowder.com/products/powder/be-86.aspx

Lohman's lists it...but they'll slip you a backorder if not in stock...I'd call them before I'd order...fwiw.:   http://www.lohmanarms.com/product_p/hcbe868.htm

But has anyone had an opportunity to try it out in 9mm yet? Or any other caliber for that matter?

Alliant lists it for a broad range of pistol calibers.

It's burn rate is very close to Unique, and the charge weight related to bullet weight is very similar to Unique as well.

Thoughts and/or experiences?

Thank you Gary.

Have you happened to have chronoed that load yet?

I hope to locate some and try it with 9mm rounds in the 124-130 gr range...but I do like 147's as well.

Much obliged.

Well life intervened and I was fortunate enough to locate a good supply of powders I had been using for a few decades. I probably have enough Unique, W231, and Bullseye to outlast me. 🙂

BUT I would appreciate anyone's current experience with this powder. Alliant BE 86.

There's plenty of load data available, just seeking any personal experiences and opinions.

I primarily handload 9mm, .38 spl, and .32 H&R mag (which really isn't a "Magnum" in my mind...).

Oh and the occasional .357 mag.

I use it for 357 Magnum and I've been happy with it.  Loads and shoots consistently out of my lever guns and SAAs.

I've used quite a bit of BE-86, worked just fine.  It has a flash suppressor which I think makes it a little more smokey and dirty.  Became hard to find and went to Tru Blue and then it is made in Belgium and no telling when more will arrive.  Went back to WSF.  Works well and reasonably priced.  Stocked up, doubt that I will change unless forced.

Thank you Sir.

That's what I was looking for.

I should have mentioned I'll primarily be using coated bullets, plated, or fmj. More than likely in 9mm for this powder.

I'll be chronoing as I build my loads.

I've read that about the flash suppressant on Enos, iirc. No big deal for me.

I've run across a decent deal and thought I'd give it at try.

And Dirty I can deal with. I've used HS 6 afterall.  🙂
