Amazing what can be accomplished when there is a common goal.
Today we have a two party system which only results in keeping us divided in order to enrich themselves.

That and a nation-wide conviction that the only important things in American life are what time the Mall opens and when the next version of the IPhone is coming out. A lot of folks today think Pearl Harbor was a singer on the Grand Ole Opry who wore a hat with a price tag hanging off of it and have utterly no idea that it could happen again. World War II should have taught us that ignorance can be a terminal affliction but didn't, at least not in the generations who didn't have to fight in it. Edited April 12, 2015 by EssOne

I have said it for years, the two party system is what is left over from the Great Compromise that maintained and equal number of Slave and Free States, thus preventing any real change.

I have long ago concluded the 2 party system just points the finger at the other party and they do pretty much the same sorry, greedy job if you can call it a job. I would much prefer no parties and if there were 20 men running for POTUS, let the man with the best ideas win. As for the the comments of Essone, my son and dil are going to start home schooling my 2 oldest grand children and teach them properly the things of history that needs to be learned and not forgotten. I don't know if any of you have seen Jesse Watters on Bill O'Reilly asking questions but it is ridiculous. He asked some college kids when did Columbus discover America and got answers like 1944. And we have to ask ourselves why we have stupid politicians, well we have stupid voters, or would that be ignorant voters?

If I remember right back in the late 60's and 70's, real history was taught in school and was an important subject. Most of my TV time was watching the History channel until it became the Pawn Stars channel which shows just how Americans are interested in learning something besides what a Willie Mantle baseball card is worth. The American Hero's channel will show alot of WW1 and WW2 doucumentries, and some other history for now until the public demands it becomes a fictional reality show channel. I wasn't a good student in school but I still knew more about history than many "college students". I watched a show called Civil War Combat the other night about the Battle of Franklin and really learned alot about it, a very interesting show to me. Very few people who even live in Tennessee or around Franklin are interested enough to know the history of their own home, seems that the attitude is that history is boring and not anything that is usefull to them.

We, as a people, have one heckuvalot of undoing to do before we get it anywhere near right again. Congrats to all you guys for getting it started in your own families. Maybe those watching from the mall will take the hint.

We try not to meddle in our kids lives, but when I heard they were going to home school the grandkids I was beside myself with joy. I told my wife to tell my DIL who was on the phone that I was backing them 100%. Stop and think these kids will basically be tutored for their remainder of school. Who best to be your advocate than your mom and dad. They have committed to going on field trips to Washington or wherever to not just talk about but show these kids. My son is self employed and he said if it took 3 weeks to see what they were teaching then so be it. I think when they first discussed it with the kids ages 12 and 8 they were opposed, but after they see how  home schooled kids are ranked to enter college they changed their minds. I am proud that my son and DIL are going to take the time and effort to educate their kids.
