Best Value For First 1911?

Those are sweet looking pistols AND come with night sights. I almost got one of those beauties.

I swore that not another 1911 would come home with me until I finished my inventory and decided what to sell! Think I'll live up to that vow?

Still considering the RIA I linked to earlier, but right now I'm leaning toward the Springfield Armory Loaded Parkerized.

That should be an easy choice. Sounds like your dilemma is over.

Yep, I really like the Springfield loaded.  Still not completely sure whether I should go with the Parkerized finish, or for a little bit more, go with the Stainless.  They both have their advantages and disadvantages.  What do y'all think?

I’ve been shooting 1911’s for over 45 years; you are going to have to explain to me the disadvantages of a stainless gun…. Of any type. biggrin.gif

Yeah, I can't argue with that.  I think I like the looks of Parkerized better, but I figure the stainless will be more durable long-term.  I'll probably just have to look at both of them side-by-side if possible and go from there...

Simple. Aesthetics.

Just noticed that only the Parkerized comes with night sights standard; Stainless doesn't.  That will probably help me make up my mind...

I would go with the Ruger, in my opinion it is the best 1911 in that price range,

Ruger Commander Talo if you don't like the stainless look.

Springfield armory was the best value in a 1911 for years. Until I started testing Arsenal 1911s. For the price point and number of models they have introduced over the last couple of years I have been very impressed with them overall. Just got my hands on my second .22TCM, a tactical with full railed dust cover. They are now making long slide versions. All of them I have handled have had good triggers and been reliable. A very good base gun to turn into a full house custom as well.

Just my opinion. Worth what you paid for.
