Guns and Leather in Greenbrier has a good course so does the Academy of Self Protection in Joelton. Veer away from Gun City like its the plague.

Todd at CIS also has amazing classes.

I'll be taking the class at guns and leather next saturday, 11-15-08. I have done alot of shopping around, and I would either take Todd's class (Todd@CIS) or Guns and Leather.

Check out www.safetysouth.net in Murfreesboro. They put on a good class where lots of info is covered. Bo (instructor) really does a good job. I took my class with him and gave me some pointers that I have never thought of and they help me become a better shot.

I took mine at Joelton, but from all of the reviews I have seen here, you won't go wrong with any of the places that were mentioned.

I took mine from Ronnie at On Target in Murfreesboro. I felt like a H.S. graduate sitting in a kindergarden class, but I understand it was necessary because there were people there without prior training at all.

Stones River range off of Hobson Pike now holds the permit classes for $75 I think or you can always get screwed over and pay $150 at Gun City, ugh I HATE Gun City.

Academy of Personal Protection and Security does classes as well. Buford Tune (the main instructor) gives about double the state required time in class.

Your Personal Experience: I highly recommend these folks. This was an eight hour (1 Day) course, split into two groups. While one group was watching the dreaded video, the other group was outside on the range. Somewhere around luch time (IIRC), the 2 groups would swap.

There were roughly 5 or 6 total instructors, and every one of them did their best to make the day as enjoyable as possible. There was no shortage of humor all day long. They made the 8 hour day seem like a breeze.

Again, I highly recommend these folks.
