what is a decent red dot?

I have a cheap BSA 30MM red dot on my cx4 storm (9mm). I am on my 2nd BSA and this one is about to tear up. luckily I only paid for one the warranty gave me the second. I would love to have a eotech but I am not paying big bucks for that right now. What do you all suggest? I just want a basic 30MM that will hold up nothing fancy.

I might be willing to change to a larger MM but the 30MM puts the dot in the general area where the factory fold down sights line up (when up).

Bushnell Holosight. Same thing as an EoTech but without the metal shroud around it for quite a bit less. IIRC they are actually made by EoTech as well.

Ultradot is the best IMHO without getting into the stupid $$$ markups on G.I Joe dots. Have 2 of them and they are rock solid. Can find them used for $75 or grab one new for $120.

///competition shooters mount them on the slides of 1911s...they can take a lickin and keep on tickin. It is the one on my MKII and 10/22

I've had good luck with Truglo. I like mounts that allow me to see the iron sights at the same time (just in case)

The C-More sight is very popular with competition shooters.

If it's for an AK with a com-bloc rail you can't beat the Russian made dots like the Kobra.

I have four $30 NCStar red dots bought on ebay, all a couple of years old, and they have held up great. I had a $30 BSA for awhile but it wasn't as bright as the NCStars so I got rid of it.

Ive got a 40mm NcStar and its a POS it lights up and goes out after the 1st shot, unscrew the cap, tighten it back up and its on again, off again after a shot. You get what you pay for. Its on my AK, Guess I have to put the reflex back on till I get a decent one. I will say the very small dot size is good for distance shooting and wont cover the target.

I hear good things about Burris. I own an Eotech 552 its pretty awesome. I also have a C-more...buy a famous maker instead(if your wanting to save money)....it just seems so chintzy next to the eotech...course I paid $210 for it and $390 for the Eotech (open box deal).

seriously, dont scrimp on your optics. cry once ya know.

try both Eotech and Aimpoint, it seems to be personal preference; folks seem to greatly prefer 1 over the other.

i've never had a BSA or other cheap scope stand up to more than a 22 for any length of time.

buy Quality once, cry once.
