I got mine way before they were cool. Way before the movie. Way before most people even knew what it meant.

He also got a Broke Back Mountain tat before that movie was cool too!

:P

Unfortunately it sort of got real popular on sites like Glock Talk after the movie 300 came out. I still love the story of the Battle for Thermopylae and the defiant attitude of not giving in to one's adversary, so I'm still proud of the ink. It's a little more than just the words Μολὼν λαβέ though.

I need to take a better picture of that one. It actually said "Rabbi Drooled Here" but the camera angle made that a pretty common misrepresentation.

+1 for Lone Wolf and +2 for Jason St. Clair, he's at Lone Wolf, Franklin, now BTW. I have one of Jason's early works on my shin in B&W. Went back for another and he told me he had changed his style and didn't really want to do what I wanted. I totally respect him for that. I have been waiting on time with Tim at LW West End for a couple of months now for my shoulder cap/wrap. I wanted Ben to do it but our schedules will never meet cause he doesn't work Fridays... So he recommended Tim as the next best guy to do what I wanted. Figure a minimum of $100/hr or more not including tips. Always tip 15 - 20% for the work. Cost is something that you have to live with for art. I've got about 15 hours in my shin and about 20 -25 in my thigh (Mandy Flynn original) so you can do your own math. I don't like to think about the money, the art is worth it to me.

They usually quote by the hour and give you a close approximate for the amount of time that the work you're wanting done will require. Most artists encourage you to bring a sample with you to design from, or even a tattoo template showing exactly what you want. Many will already have books for you to flip through for "canned" designs or something to inspire a custom design.

I'd recommend Lone Wolf and Emperor locally, by the way.

+1

Uh,I hate to be the one to break it to you,but thats a pretty common tat.

No its not. What your thinking of is a 5 pointed star. Thats a 4 pointed cross. :) Even the artist had never seen it, and nautical stars are very popular here.
