Building a 8.5" 300BO AR pistol. Radical Firearms barrel?

I'm finally starting my pistol build. I'm looking at a Radical Firearms 8.5" 300BO barrel from Redbarnarmory.com for $99 shipped. I've heard some CS complaints about Radical Firearms, but how are the barrels? They also have a low profile, adjustable gas block for $19.

I'm a big believer in you get what you pay for, but my goal with this one is an inexpensive yet reliable gun that will run with a suppressor. I don't need match grade performance but want it decent.

I already have most of the parts left over from other projects.

Thanks for the great information! That helps me. I was never interested in a AR pistol or a 300 Blackout until just recently. Now I can't wait to build it. I am really looking forward to it and getting my first can, too.

I'll check and open up the gas port like you said when I get it.

Ok, I'll run some rounds through it first.

Here's the barrel http://www.redbarnarmory.com/Radical-Firearms-300-Blackout-Barrel-p/rf300brlqpq.htm

Wingshooter did you ever complete this one? I was planning on building my upper but it's hard to beat Radical's price for a complete upper. I'm sure I'll change out the handguard and gas block eventually when I get a suppressor but this will get me shooting.

Just thought i'd bump this again and add some info to it. I have the same barrel mentioned here and was told by Radical that they port it to .106. I also asked if the barrel was concentric and they confirmed it was but told me to still have it checked.

I am going to see how it does with subsonic ammo while I wait on the suppressor. Id prefer to not have to add an adjustable block but may do it anyways just so it runs smoother and cleaner.

As far as the concentric threads go I think I may just eyeball test that one when I get the suppressor.

Thanks for the additional info on the barrel!

I have put a few hundred through mine so far. Haven't shot it as much as I want to, but it's been flawless so far. I have the 8.5". I have a cheap adjustable gas block. It fits well under my handguard, and I can access the adjustment screw through a slot in the hanguard. I haven't put any subs throught it yet. I just got my trust, so I will be getting a suppressor for it soon.

Here's my build... http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/87812-my-first-ar-pistol-300bo/ Edited by Wingshooter
