I like your solution, but functionally I dislike how you have to look all the way down to see it.

I might have done the same thing to be honest though.

I agree....not crazy about taking my eyes off the road but it does look good installed down there.

I use a GPS for the speedometer in my car, since when you adjust the steering wheel to be comfortable, you can't see the gauges. I used double sided tape to keep mine in place, and it is positioned right between the gauges.

The reason I mounted it down there is that we only use it when my wife and I travel together, never locally, so she operates it and I go by the voice commands. If I was going to use it by myself I prolly would have looked at mounting it higher. I never look at it unless we're stopped. I don't keep it set up all the time. It stays indoors until we go off on a trip so the dash looks clean and I can use the dash pocket for other things....that and I don't care to get a window busted out by someone who wants one the easy way.

I'm just going to be blunt. Because you have this mounted so low your putting yourself and others in danger. We recently had a state trooper visit us at work to talk about various things. One thing she mentioned is that at highway speeds looking down for 2 seconds means you've traveled the distance of a football field. She showed us pictures of a crash where a young man was texting and rear ended another car killing a woman. Many lives were ruined because he looked down for just a few seconds.

Using a GPS is the same as a phone. My dad was doing the same thing as you and I finally convinced him to move the GPS to the windshield.

They provide a suction cup for a reason.

As I typed this I noticed your previous post which makes me feel better. But for anyone else who is considering mounting this down low, please don't do it unless you plan on having a passenger look at it.

No sweat Sir. I should have done a better job in the original post of explaining that I never look at the GPS when I'm driving and that I only use it on long trips when I have a right seat navigator to run it for me....So I don't need to keep it up at eye level. I'll do it right next time. Best wishes.
