Nashville to allow Immigrants on police force?

One would think that if a foreigner served time in our military, he/she would want to attain natural citizenship before assuming law enforcement responsibility.  A green card was originally granted as a means for temporary work; long-term careers, especially involving public safety, should be reserved for those desiring to assimilate and swear allegiance to this country and its Constitution.

I've no problem with an immigrant whose obtained their US citizenship and meets all employment requirements being employed as a LEO. But I've worked around some who were difficult to understand due to their foreign accents which became more so when under stress. Of course that ones not a deal breaker because I've encountered transplanted Northerners and some fellow Southerners who were difficult to understand too. As to allowing the individual to be hired while their US citizenship is pending, I don't have a problem with the hiring or training but am against them becoming a certified officer until the citizenship papers are in hand. FWIW foreign nationals can go into our military and within a prescribed time period obtain citizenship. LEA recruiters actively seek out members of the military leaving the service. So why such a rush?

We have a president whose citizenship cannot be determined. Cops from Detroit refuse to enlist w metro pd when courted to come down and join. I'm sure Waffle House has motivate workers that would jump at being on a pd!!! Robbery on 2 ! Traffic on 6 hold the onions!

Or maybe the idea is to hire immigrants from more authoritarian cultures who are less likely to question orders to violate constitutionally protected rights? :tinfoil:

Before you know it you'll have a bunch of mooslims on the force trying to enforce sharia law and cry racism when someone complains.

Glanced at a couple of big city requirements, sure enough, green card only needed in Chicago to be a cop. Don't even have to have applied to be a citizen, as even LA requires.

 

So probably any number of others around the country too?
