Do you belong to the NRA?

Seeing as how the election has turned out I thought this was a good time to ask the question.

Obama is on record as wanting to cancel out rights in regards to 2A. He is surrounded by people who are equally willing to trample the BoR.

Now is certainly the time to come aboard with the NRA. The NRA has flaws. But they are our best option to have a voice in Washington DC.

So where do you stand? Is 35 bucks for a hundred or so 7.62X39 rounds more important to you than protecting your right to own the means to shoot those rounds?

Like many I procrastinated too dang long. So on Monday night I paid my $35 dues and joined. The NRA is the only stronghold we have for our gun rights.

I've been a life member since 1985. The NRA isn't perfect but they are about the only pro-gun lobbying group the anti's are afraid of.

1000$ automatic firearms insurance with membership....would cover most of us for our carry gun at least...makes me feel at least a bit better for those times it has to stay in the car. To me this would be worth the 35$ membership price.

I will likely join very soon due to last night's election.

However, I have resisted for a while. In GA the NRA was not very helpful in getting some crucial state legislation passed. They had an agenda which was not exactly what "we" wanted. "We" tried desperately to get them to help us. They didn't come in until the very last minute once they knew they would also be getting what "they" wanted. Only then did they decide to help "us". They didn't want to push two (or join) two agendas during the same leg session.

I will not be a part of an organization that purports to represent me and then stab me in the back. Either you fight for ALL of the 2nd or none of it.

I could not disagree more. This is a common argument I see from people who choose not to support the NRA. My answer is: How much ground does a stubborn child gain by being stubborn? Usually none. If the NRA can't move and adapt and make compromises, they are going to get nowhere in DC. They are willing to work with lawmakers to achieve the best possible outcome for gun owners instead of being stalwart, which would most likely get them shut out.
