That was great!

Ever hear Sungha Jung play?  You should like this little fellar.  He has hundreds of video on youtube.  I have all his albums autographed, I ordered them from Korea.

He even makes crappy songs good!

I must admit, I couldn't have played any of the pieces any better myself!

Thanks for reminding me just how much I like this young man's guitar playing.

Every time I hear him I have to wonder, would ol' Chet have given him a CGA, Certified Guitar Player, rating? If any don't know, that was Chet's seal of approval to recognize those he considered to be excellent guitarists.

I think he would.

I first heard Joe play a few years ago, and it completely changed my music listening preferences. I was a classic rock guy all the way through, but once I discovered Bonamassa, I discovered a whole new genre of music I didn't even know existed.  I've been listening to electric blues ever since.  It's been refreshing to discover new artists and hear awesome songs for the first time ever, instead of the classics that I've heard thousands of times before.

Joe is a music dynamo. He's been releasing close to two albums a year for a while now. And they just keep getting better. He will define the genre for decades to come.

I'ts odd to me that I never really caught on to this style of music. My favorite groups have always been Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, who are both firmly rooted in blues.

Here is Joe's version of one of my all time favorite Led Zep songs.

I'd have to add Phil Keaggy. Acoustically, there aren't many better.

and you can't get much more technically perfect playing than Eric Johnson.

Joe Bonnamassa is a great player. Unfortunately, I've heard he's not a very nice person. And sometimes I think he sounds a little too much like Eric Johnson.

Sadly, it often comes with the territory.  Yngwie Malmsteen is one of THE greatest guitar player to ever live.  He is also one of THE biggest bags of douche to ever draw breath.

His wife is nice though (and smoking hot). I went to see a friend open for Yngwie at the Ventura theater on my 21st birthday and while he lived up to his rep back stage in spades, she was very cool and came out and sat with us regular schmucks for a while and wished me a happy birthday. :) His singer at the time (some Bruce Dickens looking dude) was also pretty cool and hung out with "Ronnies friends" for a few minutes and had a joke with us about the expected span of his career singing with Yngwie.

Sorry for the trip down memory lane, but that was an awesome night for sure.
