Right on, can't help you with the blue tooth, I wear ear plugs. Too much tinnitus from being around jets. I do have a stereo on the batwing fairing though :)

I have the Sena smh10.  Works well with my full face helmet.  Do you just want to listen to music or do you want to use it for phone calls as well?  I think having a phone call with a half helmet would probably not be great, but I haven't tried it to be honest.

Earplugs.

Two halves....

1.  I don't want to be half deaf like my Dad.

2. Half the point of riding is so I don't have to talk to anyone.

I agree with Peejman, wind noise is very bad for you.  I highly recommend these earplugs.  They keep the wind noise down, yet you can hear your music and everything without issue.

I side with PJ and Hozzie. I ride long and hard. Usually 800 + a day when I need to get somewhere. :) Most folks don't like to ride like that. I get going and stop for gas every three hours. I listen to the voices in my head. After 600 to 700 miles I am tired of those voices. :) I then start looking for a place to crash for the night. I have thought about getting music on the bike but have never really looked into it. I do always wear ear plugs. 20 years of working on helicopters for the Navy taught me to take care of my hearing. My separation physical showed that I did very well saving my hearing. As I had negligible loss compare to when I joined at 17. :)

Another vote for the Sena SMH 10.  I can link it to my phone for calls, music, radar detector or gps prompts.  I can intercom with just the wife or have a group conversation by attaching an FRS radio.

I just use the foam Howard Leight type earplugs... they're free at work.  I find the constant drone of wind noise very fatiguing and headache inducing.  I feel like I can hear the important stuff better with earplugs, they drop the background noise to the point that other things are more clear.   I don't understand how people with really loud bikes stand it.

I use the Scala Rider G3. It works seemlessly between listening to music on my phone, answering calls, and talking to my wife when she rides with me. One of the guys with whom I ride on a regular basis is going to get another one for bike to bike communication. I only wear full face helmets, though, so I can't tell you how it will work with the ball cap. But I do know that the mic blocks a lot of wind noise. The people on the other end can never tell I'm on my bike.

The loudness helps to be heard since most people don't see you. Of course they don't hear you until you're on top off em but it's better than nothing. Inmo

My Bike is so loud that dead people can hear it, but it sounds damn good to my ears and i noticed no drone on a 300 mile ride

On a side note while there is some merit to loud pipes getting you noticed, I'm a fan of this quote: "If you think loud pipes save lives, imagine what learning to ride the thing will do." I encourage my fellow motorcyclists to get advanced training when possible from places like the Total Control riding clinic that comes to Nashville every year.

Concur with training and practice. Even for road sofas like Harley's :)

I went with thunder headers on my street glide. By far my favorite pipes for a bike.

A lot of my friends ride loud bikes around here and they use these.

They can have conversations while riding and the person that they are talking to (usually me) doesn't know if they are riding or not.  Tuck it into your shirt or jacket and there is NO wind noise.
