To your idea of a fake wall, there is another kind of fake wall that might be easier to make/open, and it would be inside. It depends on what type of material your interior walls are made out of.

You could build another wall layer on a wall made out of that crappy drywall, and then easily get in with some force (even bare hands work)

That's a great idea. If I could sacrifice 2ft of a rooms width, I could run a new "fake wall" full length and then all I would have to do is go under the house and reinforce the floor in that area. It would be easy to match the panelling and just minimal nails on one sheet. I might be looking into that.

No! wait scratch that, it's a horrible idea! I won't be doing it, so don't bother coming here and looking. Nope, no stash in my house:rolleyes:

Get a large diameter PVC pipe & a cap for each end. Fill it to the brim with ammo & bury it or do whatever you like. It will be moisture resistant.
