Chicken Liver??

Recommended Posts

Anybody in the Murfreesboro area that knows a good place to get chicken liver? KFC is good most of the time but sometimes they overcook the liver and it's like eating leather. And I'm too lazy to cook them myself. Even someplace with livers on the salad bar would be good.

Thanks

Nothing worse than eating a plate of fried gizzards and you get a fried liver.

I like liver, but gave it up because of all the crap that animals get fed now. Any heavy metal that an animal intakes gets sent to stay in the liver.

If you ever get to Knoxville, Chandler's has the best chicken livers anywhere.

As well as the best fried green tomatoes I have ever had. Pretty much anything on the menu is southern perfection.

Some Kroger's and Publix stores have them and the Dodge store on broad street use to have them i like gizzards more till you find a rock

In Nooga, try Kacey's on Lee Highway. Country buffet, far as I know chicken livers are on menu every day.

I would not call myself a connoisseur of haute cuisine.  I like a good dive about the same as a white table cloth.  Maybe it's my general dislike for anything between those two, but for the life of me, I cannot recall ever having seen chicken livers on a salad bar.

And, the old maxim is probably going to apply here:

If you want something done right, you're going to have to learn to do it yourself.

Nailed it! I have been walking the streets in the Philippines and got some hearts and gizzards on a stick. Tastes great till they slip a liver in. I go back to the same vendor and get another stick on his peso. LOL

I have a neighbor that likes chicken livers almost as much as I do. Personally, I've got to have pinto's, mashed tators and some really good southern cole slaw with mine. You can find it ALL at any Western Sizzlin steak house on the buffet. The livers are tender and lightly breaded, slaw is great and beans/mashed tators are pretty fine also. We make a run about 2 times a month.

You can find one here:   http://www.western-sizzlin.com/

Best chicken livers I've ever had came from The Beacon in Spartanburg.

But as has been stated, given that it's the body's filter and retains all the bad stuff, I consider chicken livers to be a very rare treat.

That's why I like 'em well done.

Lickin' Chivers!

That said, they don't hold a candle to squirrel livers. No, you won't find those in any restaurant.

It must take a mess of squirrels to make a plate of livers.
