Sig Mosquito

Well my ole Mosquito finally bit the dust.

Honestly, I have no idea how many rounds have been fired through this thing. I bought it used for $150, and it looked like it had been drug through the war then.

It died where they all die, slide broke clean in two behind the front site.

I contacted Sig, and since this was a 2007 or newer gun. (This one was 2007 vintage) They replaced the slide for free. I had to pay for shipping, so that was $60 appx.

They put a new recoil spring in it and said I am good to go. Now they did not do anything special for me. Didn't send a mag or touch up the lower, even used the same barrel. Just simply replaced the slide and test fired it. I didn't really expect them to do anything extra, but sometime manufactures like to spread a little magic.

Now the part I thought was weird is that Sig advised the recoil spring should be replaced every 500-750 rounds. Its only a $5 part, but that seem really excessive!

You're thinking in the "old 22LR days" terms.   In today's terms, based on the availability of ammo, that should put you out a couple of years so that doesn't seem so bad.    :)

Yeah that's true! 750 rounds will last me a good 8-10 years at this rate...
