Usually a mention here every year.

 

Being a life long cinephile, I still find this cultural ritual a fascinating annual event myself. Even though as usual I probably won't see any of the nominated flicks till months to a year hence. (edit: saw Grand Budapest Hotel, already on cable, forgot)

 

And of course this year with the added politics of the liberal contaminated AMPAS vs overwhelming public support for American Sniper and with the trial happening at the same time, another nifty wrinkle.

 

I'll even wait and watch TWD  later. :)

I haven't seen any of the movies, since I only go to the cinema about twice a year and spent my allotment for 2014 on Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Sex Tape. 

 

I've heard from everybody who's seen it, that Birdman was awesome, so I guess I'll put that for my best picture prediction.

As long as amer sniper wins I couldn't care about the rest. Mainly cause I wanna see kyles widow and kids live well, and make sure jesse ventura looks like an ass profiting off of a dead hero. 2|€|£{ piece of crap.

Birdman was a waste of time to me. Everyone who came out had a different opinion of it though. Depending on what you like it could be a great movie portraying all sorts of different thoughts and emotions, but I really didn't care for it.

I have not seen any film nominated.The movie that Julianne Moore is up for Best Actress in Still Alice is one I am interested in seeing , I can relate to the subject matter.

Oscars? I had three of them in a 75 gallon tank....interesting watching them devour feeder fish....same thing as in Hollywierd.....watching them from the outside as they swim in their own "stuff" and display what God gave them...............rather watch the fish  :popcorn:

See if you can find the head of the academy's speech she gave about "everyone having the right to be heard." Both my wife and I started laughing and commented that "everyone" just means people on their left side of the isle.

 

BTW, I have done film work before for Octavia Spencer and she is the real deal. Really cool, down to earth woman. So it was fun to see her get singled out.
