I use that same block on a prototype upper I'm working with right now. Been using it for a couple months with zero complaints. Never touched the brass screw. Just left it where it was when I got it and play with the set screw for adjustments and that's it.

some or most might not be interested but, there is a new player on the block that was introduced at shot show and had I seen it first I dont know that I would have bought the clamp on JP gas block.  But sundevilsales.com has it and is called the ADIGS, the adjustable drop in gas system and goes it to the gas block on the bcg, it is a few more dollars at 59.95 and no I dont have any affiliation with them.  But with it being able to sit on top of the bcg when needing adjustment it sure would seem like it would be alot more accessible than one mounted to the barrel of a rifle, I was thinking about replacing the one on my carbine with another like the one I bought for the carbine then saw this one and would probably go this route than with another barrel mount just for simplicity, and what also makes it nice is that it will work on 223/556-308 configurations, but again just my own opinion I am sure others would disagree.

I wasn't too keen on the set screw to lock the adjuster. I use blue Loctite. If I need to adjust, I'll rapid fire 2 or 3 rounds to heat the barrel up, adjust, then leave it alone as it stays put. For a cheap way to go I would hope it would be trouble free. My fav has block is from BTE , 55 bucks one piece tiny and adjustable. The dolomite special...;) Edited by Dustbuster

I've learned the hard way about cheap adjustable gas blocks, never again. I've shot some with loctite loose in as little as 5 rounds. Had to drill/tap one as it wouldn't hold past one round. All mine have been since replaced with the SLR version, spendy but it works without fuss.
