Go over to the S&W forum, those guys can tell you. They also will tell you to buy a Standard Catalog Of Smith and Wesson,it has all the info about them.I'm too cheap to buy one so I will write down the serial no. and go to Books A Million and look it up in one of their copies.

19-4 mfg 1977-1982, ser#25k0001-56k9999 1978/79, being towards the end of the serial number cycle it's fairly safe to assume 1979. (reference 3rd Standard Catalog of Smith&Wesson)

You also asked for info... how 'bout some opinion? :P

You just bought one of the best weapons ever made, IMO! With the 4"-6" barrels, they are incredibly well balanced, and super versatile. From powder-puff paper punching wadcutters to heavy-duty magnums, the model 19 can do it all. I've got a 6" 19-3 and a 4" 19-5 for the wife. I will never sell or trade those guns, even as others may come and go. Congratulations on your purchase!

PICS!! Tell us a little more... barrel length, finish, etc.
