Powder measure cleaning ?

Recommended Posts

What do you guys use to clean the preservative oil / packing grease from a new Powder measure ?

Mine is new and has all the oil in it. I just dont want to gum it up with the wrong cleaner and then mess up my powder .

I use the Hornady OneShot cleaner usually. It is a cleaner and dry lube.
Anything that you use for your other reloading equipment or even firearms should be fine for the powder measure. Clean it then let it dry before using.

Tercel... Ive used lots of denatured alcohol (...methanol from the home depot or lowes paint department...)... jonathon's idea to use One Shot is a good one.....

+1 on the Hornady spray. I can tell you from experience and being lazy that I forgot this important step when setting up my latest lock n load press. Very frustrating throwing charge weights all over the place and then having to disassemble, clean, dry, reassemble.

Use a alcohol, after it dries, store with a dryer sheet to avoid static buildup.  My cleanup otherwise is a good wipe every ten years or so with a cotton tee shirt or diaper.

Letting it set up too long with powder in it will produce a cloudy effect on the plastic of the hopper.
