Anyone here this morning familiar with Parrotsville? Found an interesting ad and curious about it and the location.

Thanks for any input you might have.

Yes, an Armslist deal has gotten my attention. But just a bit far. 240 miles in between, and it's a spectacular price.

Kinda raising some bells and whistles this morning. Maybe too much so.

I've driven around that area quite a bit. Greene County is a pretty place. Is that 240 round trip or one way?

Ok, guys. Just got back to the pc. Thanks for all the offers of help and information.

Especially to the eastern folks, Fujimo and PackinMama.

Here's the situation: I found an interesting armslist ad for a Smith 19-f for quite a good price.

I emailed to ask where the pistol was, saying I was interested. Got a reply saying Parrotsville and asking where I was. I awnsered and asked about the pistol, and were they a business, gun shop or pawn shop.

I replied that I preferred to deal face to face, but that the 240 miles each way was a little too much, and I'd just pass on it.

Another reply offered to send it to an FFL for me, but gave no name.

A little later the reply says "we are a pawn." I ask for the name again. The reply is now that "I am going to pawn the gun."

Maybe it is all legit, but just runs some flags up for me.

Oh...the gun, 360. A little low I thought.

Ok...I re-read the ad on Armslist, re-read all the emails; and I still feel this is shakey.

I appreciate all the offers, and maybe I'm going to miss a good one, but it feels off to me this morning.

But then maybe it's just the drugs.

I was running an auto finance company in 1994 and a dude skipped to Parrotsville.

Our skip tracing efforts uncovered he was originally from Parrotsville and when times got tough he simply moved back to his home town from the big city of Knoxville.

We never did find him or that car.

If you were looking for a "town" in Parrotsville it's no wonder he couldn't be located...lol

I did a surveying job up there several years ago. Spent about a month there. I liked it. It's purty country. And an ostrich tried to kill me there one day. Edited by JWC

OK, brother member Fujimo tells me his findings also indicate a scam ad.

Imagine that. A scam on armslist. Wow.

I suppose it's really a wonder that more of them aren't there. Or possibly that they don't get found out.

I looked long and hard at that ad. It was just a little to good to be true. I decided it was a scam fishing for email addresses so I held off.

Sounds like the kind of place we all would like to retire/return/hide out in.
