Thinking about moving from SW TN to East TN and wanted to know if Knoxville has regulations against shooting on my property? (say 3+ acres).

Can even vary by county and/or according to zoning covanants.... Check with the county clerk and do your research.....

Yes, you can shoot on your property within Knox county (not Knoxville city).  With only 3 acres, noise will be a significant issue.

also not Farragut.  Any part of Knox County that is a incorporated city...avoid.  (Powell is OK)

BTW, there are basically 9 counties within the Knox region commuting range.

You can't even legally shoot a BB gun inside Knoxville city limits. Really.

Kind of what I figured, County OK, city no go.

Really looking around Lake Norris region and also Gatlinburg region. I currently have a range in my yard, so I am not going anywhere I can't do the same.

BTW, The locals pronounce it "Norris Lake". Lake Norris is Yankee Marketing BS (as well as Rocky Top, TN)

you might look into Corryton.  Plenty of land out there.

Hardin Valley is a great area.  Land is available, but seems to be being sold in larger tracts to developers.

I live about 5 minutes from Turkey Creek, and I hear people shooting all the time.  Makes me pretty jealous.

I've been working hard to say Norris Lake it is just hard to say it in reverse even with Southern upbringing... I was raised on Lake Decade outside of Houma La...

Corryton is terrible, don't live here.

Corryton looked OK on City-Data until I got to the part where 34% of Corryton residents voted for that POS Obama in 2012 & 37.7% in 2008.

WTF?

Hell, that's significantly less than the state wide average for both elections. (2012: 39.04,   2008: 41.7)

Yeah, but if you throw out the sh!thole they call Memphis and the uber liberal Nashville and vicinity, percentage goes way down. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone in my area that voted for that POS

If you are looking at Norris, the hell with shooting in your yard, just go to the watershed to shoot like the rest of us. Sure, you have to drive, but much less hassle. When I lived in Knoxville it was nearly an hour drive for me, and I still did it multiple times a month because I liked shooting there so much.
