I'm guessing he wants to make sure Blackwater is still employed after he pulls us out of Iraq?

Why BW? He's got the entire Nation of Islam at his disposal.

Don't forget the Black Panthers...

ALAMO - A peaceful protest by the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense left some residents uplifted and joyous and others upset and disappointed.

The group held a press conference at 2 p.m. Saturday in front of the Crockett County Courthouse in response to the arrests of two men authorities say planned to kill Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and more than 100 others.

Minister Najee Muhammad, national field marshal for the New Black Panther Party, and Uhuru Shakur, local chairman of the Atlanta chapter of the party, took turns reading statements from Dr. Malik Shabazz, leader of Black Lawyers for Justice and attorney for the party.

Muhammad began by condemning the alleged plot by Danie

l Cowart, of Bells, and Paul Schlesselman, of Helena-West Helena, Ark. Federal authorities have said the two young white supremacists planned to go state to state to kill 88 people and behead 14 black people before assassinating their final target, Obama.

Cowart, 20, and Schlesselman, 18, waived their detention hearing Thursday and remain in jail pending a Nov. 6 hearing in U.S. District Court in Memphis. The hearing, which will be held at 9 a.m., will be on whether the case should be sent to a grand jury.

During Saturday's press conference, about 50 black and white residents listened at the courthouse as Muhammad said the black community needs to unite and protect one another. Other residents watched from a distance.

"We will not allow some racists and other angry whites, who are upset over an impending Barack Obama presidential victory, to intimidate blacks at the polls," Muhammad said. "Most certainly, we cannot allow these racist forces to slaughter our babies or commit other acts of violence against the black population, nor our black president."

Muhammad added, "We must organize to counter and neutralize these threats using all means at our disposal. This is a great time for our people, and we must ensure that peace prevails for our people."

Shakur said the New Black Panther Party does not hate white people, but it does not like racist white people who try to harm the black community.

Shakur said Obama is a symbol of hope and that it is time for a change in the Oval Office.

"We love Barack Obama - he gives our people great hope and light for advancement," Shakur said. "Every president America has had has been a white man. Now the black man must be given his time to rule. Obama is a man of justice and a leader who wants to do right."

Shakur added, "We warn you, leave Barack Obama alone and leave our babies alone because black people are a spiritual people and a people who are trying to do right, and we will not hesitate to take up our legal rights of self-defense."

Shakur said the New Black Panther Party believes the plot that was foiled in Crockett County was not an isolated incident and that the party will do what it can to protect members of the black community on Election Day.

"We will be at the polls in the cities and counties in many states to ensure that the enemy does not sabotage the black vote, which was won through the blood of the martyrs of our people," he said.

As members of the New Black Panther Party said "Black Power," Andrew Chirwa, an Alamo resident and native of Malawi in Southern Africa, urged everyone at the press conference to shout "Black Power" together.

"We need a compassionate president, and Obama is that man," Chirwa said after the press conference. "Obama will take us through the hard times. We need Obama because he will elevate America."

Chirwa said black people "can excel in running this country."

"We can also do what is right for the country," Chirwa said. "People of all races, it doesn't matter who you are, we need to come together."

Across the street, a crowd of about two dozen white people stood, arms folded and angry looks on their faces. Some said all they heard were the words "black power."

Local police, sheriff's deputies and state troopers were stationed at the courthouse and on surrounding streets to keep the peace, but no problems arose.

Jimmy Reasons, who said he was a felon and couldn't vote, was among the onlookers across the street from the press conference. He said he was angry.

"They need to get out of here," Reasons said. "Don't nobody care about that."

Other onlookers chimed in saying, "I just don't want blacks to run our country" and "The White House is meant for the white house."

Suzie Cooke, a white woman who lives in Crockett County, walked across the street and approached the onlookers and the media.

"I voted for Obama," Cooke said. "My mother voted for Obama, and my 94-year-old grandfather voted for Obama. It's time for a change."

As Cooke walked away from the onlookers, she said, "That's not the representation of the whole county."

just a little off topic. i have been watching this mess for almost 2 years. the one thing i have observed is the lower the IQ the more likely a person will vote for Nobama. they dont understand that this country does not have the money to give all he has promised. now with mid-east backing he can give it until all hope and liberty is gone then just take it all back with total control.

Our President is merely a figurehead; he can’t do much on his own. It would require Congress, The Justice Department, The Department of Defense, and The Supreme Court of the United States to stand by and do nothing for him to do some of the things suggested here.

Then there is the possibility of Executive Order.
