B. Echeverria Star Super B 9mm Handguns

Hey Guys
Saw this on AIM website and was wondering if anyone has an opinion on these. For under $300 looks like I can get one in my hands. It would be for range time only and maybe a truck gun if it runs like they say they do. Thanks

Very similar to the venerable 1911.  No grip safety, and the trigger rotates on a pin instead of sliding.  The Super also has other improvements.  The Star B and Super were standard issue in many armies for nearly 50 years.  Many were used by the Germans in WWII as well as South American and Asian armies until the '90's.

Star made quality firearms, unlike the reputation of many other Spanish firearms manufacturers.  Magazines are scarce and expensive.  If AIM has extras, grab them as the aftermarket ones are not as reliable.

It's a C&R pistol of good manufacture and as a collectors piece is a worthwhile acquisition. As a sometimes range gun or casual shooter it'd be a lot of fun. Where I would draw the line is as a carry gun or truck gun as all I would fire in it would be standard velocity FMJ or hard cast lead bullets.

This. They (AIM) had some C&R Model Bs(not Super) a few years ago but they seem to have dried up from all the usual suspects for awhile now. Still see the odd one come through some of the smaller places from time to time, but haven't seen them en mass since I got mine.

It is tempting. But after some studing and thinking. I think I will pick up a RIA tatical 9mm. Parts and mags are a lot cheaper and it fills the bill for what I am looking for. Still very tempting.

The current crop of Super B's are not C&R.

They were made from 1946 to 1983.  What AIM has in stock right now (as well as J&G and SOG) are not over 50 years old.

The ones currently on J&G's website claim to be C&R eligible.  Maybe that's why they're $60 more.
