I just found a Steyr pistol, never saw that brand before, are they any good? It's fairly inexpensive and felt fine in my hand. It does have the stupid glock trigger:rolleyes:, but I can live with that if they are a fine firearm.

They have to be better than Hi-Points!;)

That didn't help.:pleased:

And just for the record i have a crap load of hipoints, every one has gone bang every time I put my booger hook on the bang switch and pull so they can't be all that bad.

My question was on the quality of Steyr guns, not to compare them to something else and then bash that product.:tinfoil:

I've only had 1 Steyr come thru the HCP classes. I borrowed it for a few rounds. Felt good in my hand, and the trigger was not bad.

Those crazy trapezoid sights might take a couple magazines full to get used to.

If you're getting a good price, I wouldn't say not to buy it. It won't be terrible.........it's Austrian !! :pleased:

the only Steyrs I'm intimately familiar with are the models 1907 and 1912. Perhaps that's why I moderate the C&R forum. Both those pistols were junk, even for their day.:sadwave: But give them 90 or 100 years, maybe they got better....

The more recent Steyrs have been pretty good guns, as far as I know. I shot their polymer pistols in 9mm and 40 and liked both of them. Kinda' Glockish, and just like the Glocks, nothing special, but nothing awful. Neither malf'ed on me through a couple mags each.

I too have been pretty curious about these.(not that I can actually buy anything atm) but info is always nice. The ergonomics and the triangular sight look pretty good.

It felt pretty good.

That explains the "glock" feel.:sadwave:

These I saw didn't look like they were put together bad.

Steyrs are great guns. I have a M9 and a M40 and love them both. CDNN has the updated MA1's available cheap (they may have sold out by now).

The trap sights take a little getting used to, but once you do they work fine.

Check out www.steyrclub for lots more info.

I have a steyr .40. I like it very much. It's the one that stays in my nightstand next to the bed when I go to sleep. I've put anywhere from 1500 to 2000 rounds through it, and the only problems I've ever had are when I've gone a little too long between cleanings. Very fine pistol, especially for the price.

They were designed by a few disgruntled ex-Glock engineers, as I understand... Basically, they are simply an improved Glock. Nearly identical internals, but the gun actually has good ergonomics and excellent sights.

I thought the Steyr company had been around since 1893 or something like that, I didn't know glocks were that old.
