SB0206 Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday

Throwing this in the hunting section since the bill is primarily catering to the hunting crowd.

SB0206 and HB0239 seek to create a 2A sales tax holiday on the first weekend of September each year.

Here are the important parts of the bill.

(a) For purposes of this section, "hunting supplies" means tangible personal property used for hunting. "Hunting supplies" includes archery equipment, firearm and archery cases, firearm and archery accessories, hearing protection, holsters, belts and slings. "Hunting supplies" does not include animals or vehicles.

( B) The exemption provided by this section shall be known as the “Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday”.

(c) There is exempt from the tax imposed by this chapter any firearms, ammunition, and hunting supplies, if sold between 12:01 a.m. on the first Friday of September and 11:59 p.m. the following Sunday.

This would be a great addition to our existing tax holidays.  Be sure to be in touch with your representatives about it.  Start now with your elected reps and as the bill moves through committee, I can get you lists of people to contact.

I'd save up for this. I also hope this would be a great boon for local shops who routinely lose sales due the "Tennessee Tithe" on purchases, as I like to call it.
