Before you lynch the culprit, remember he could have been hunting something else, taken a shot, and hit this eagle. It's even within the realm of possibility he never even realized he'd hit it at all. 

 

It is an awesome damn bird though.

Get out of here with that innocent before proven guilty stuff...you act like our justice system runs on that type of setup or something  :squint:

It is an awesome damn bird though.


The goose season would have been open during that time, also. It's vital that any waterfowl hunter knows what he's shooting at before pulling the trigger, and mistaken identity gets no sympathy from me; but you're right... good chance it wasn't intentional.

Such a magnificent bird.

This past weekend I talked to someone that has some factual information first hand.  It was a shotgun that did the damage, I would assume for that to happen the shooter knew exactly what he was shooting at.
