How cheap can you build an AR?

I pulled one together for about $550 with a PSA lower and BCG, PTAC mid-length upper, MBUS Pro rear sight and cheapo charging handle. It could have been even less if I went with a classic lower, but I knew I wanted to go ahead and upgrade to a Magpul grip and stock.

If the Ruger had been out when I was in the market, I would have seriously considered the complete rifle.

Harvey's Pistol and Loan in Knoxville, is selling ATI Omni Hybrids for $489.99.  That is the lowest I've seen an AR in a long time.  I have no idea about the quality of the rifle, though.  But the bottom has obviously dropped out of the AR market.  If you want one, now is definitely a good time to buy one, before the next Obama Manufactured Gun Crisis.

I am just getting started and got a ar 15 billet lower for $139 and ill buy parts as they go on sale.I am not in a big hurry.I most likely spend over $1000

The ar 15 has to lead to a Dillion xl 650 sooner or later.Below is some info on the Incendia billet lower if interested

Got the Bushmaster lower for fifty bucks and DPMS insides for the same money. Can't find a descent top end for cheap though. I like the dissipater configuration that Model 1 sales has but they want $440 and no bolt or carrier.

I like the dissipater configuration.....

Keep an eye out for this PSA Dissy upper.  Out of stock right now, but with PSA you never know when they will pop up AND on sale!

1-7 twist with mid-gas and its around $299.  I've been running one for about a year and its one of my favorites.

I recently finished a "how cheap can I do this project" myself. Finished up about $450 all in. Pay attention to PSA's daily deals, and be patient, and you can do just as well. Got the PTAC upper for $189. Not a high end rifle, but shoots well and is a great deal for the money.
