At last, yeah. I've had it on my planner for 6 weeks & I get exited to see it's recorded every week. Until I remember it's a 3 minute promo...

If you like this show, I would also suggest taking the time to watch the John Adams mini series done by HBO several years ago.

Yep, that one was excellent. Almost too much detail, but very well done.  Paul Giamatti was fantastic.

Well, being a reenactor, I usually watch these shows for historical accuracy. This rack of  "Trapdoor" Springfield's kind of did me in! I lost interest right then and there!untitled_zps82a68e58.png

It was worth watching, but they really took a LOT of creative license.  Gage, for instance, wasn't regarded as a total shit...and wasn't even at the Battle of Bunker Hill.  He was actually fairly sympathetic of the colonials.  They went too far in trying to "modernize" the dialog.  I don't think Ben Franklin would have called Prime Minister North, "Bro".

They also give Sam Adams WAY too much representation in the Continental Congress than he deserved.  There will be a lot of people who watch this and take it for Gospel.  My biggest gripe is that they really made Farmer Dickerson of Pennsylvania out to be a smug and prissie ass at the Cont. Congress.  That man was amazing, and humble.  He opposed the declaration due to his Quaker beliefs and the desire to avoid war at all costs, but when the die was cast, he served proudly in the Pennsylvania Militia during the war.  My other peeve is that they showed the Declaration being voted on July 4th, rather than July 2nd.

John Adams on HBO was much better written and acted, and was really superb.  It portrayed Dickenson VERY well.  It took creative license too...they made Adams' relationship with his son Charlie out to be caustic when there is no evidence to support that.  They also kill Charlie off at a young age, when in fact he lived to be much older than the series indicated.

I majored in History, so that kind of stuff bothers me.  None of it was harmful, but there are plenty of other shows/movies that are made that really are dangerous.  There are kids out there that believe Lincoln was a vampire hunter for Pete's' sake.

surely no one who watched it thought it was  historically accurate. It was entertaining though.

It was pretty exotic!

Meh.  It was a great mini-series.  It wasn't 100% accurate and they compressed a lot of history into three days, but it still pointed out that this country was birthed by hellraisers and beer drinkers.  I'm rather proud of that aspect of our history.  We have a long tradition of bucking tyranny and our current administration would be well served to remember that.

If Sons of Liberty inspires a renewed interest in our nation's history among young people (or people in general) then that's a good thing.  We live in a day when we really could use a reminder of where we came from.

HOLY COW!!!!  If I'd have noticed that, I'd have shut the TV off right then too!  Might have even thrown it out of the house!!!
